My buddy tech rep'ed a local low budget film last year. They had two HUMMVs "loaned" from local police dept. In two days they broke the windshield on one unit and caved in a head light/cracked hood on the other. Took a week to get the parts and repair. May not be worth the aggravation.
Chris, you're spot on. The main bearings get Oil pressure at engine start, oil then flows to the filters, oil pressure transmitter, upper galley etc. The engine does not truely experience a "dry start" .
Jon,
Best thing to do is go look at them all, I own one of each. Your potenial collection awaits you. If you can only look/buy at one, look at the M925, the winch is an added bonus. The M35A3 are nice if you have limited space. Take pictures

Nice truck, welcome to the wrecker club. Lots of potential there. They are handier than a 2 peckered billygoat. As suggested, try to get it in out of the weather/covered. You will enjoy working on it and will not go backwards.

Welcome from Kentucky, nice truck. Looks like you got your technical questions answered. Not much to add other than read the manuals, both operatoers and maintenance, wealth of information to keep you running safe and sound.
Have fun.

I got a good chuckle out of that yesterday, just remember, " real trucks don't have sparkplugs". That is algea/bacterial growth, don't get it in any open cuts/scratches.
It encourages the little monsters to enter the cab, make a nest and then possibly die in the cab. Moth balls keep them out of the cab and the bait stations keep them out of the buildings.
