TIS the time of year for dryer service....

Get out there and service your dryer. Less than 1 year on this cartridge. Drain my tanks weekly (never any moisture I can detect), and daily drive my truck:

Deutsch or Weatherpak connectors for my DIY harnesses

Deutsch and Amphenol have better pin density - weatherpack is 1980's technology. Note that there are multiple types and sizes of Deutsch connectors. DT, DTM, and DTP being the most common. If you truly want it to look the part then you go with Amphenol Mil Spec Aerospace connectors...

    Parking brake knobs

The drier needs to be serviced annually, or more frequently in wet climates. Mine was never serviced since 2008 when the truck was built and it destroyed my compressor on the 2700 mile drive home (truck had 2750 miles when I left TX, about 5400 when I got back to OR). I had no signs of anything...

    Parking brake knobs

Tried that before I left Texas with my truck. Worked for a short time and started leaking again. But my truck went to Kuwait and then lived in El-Paso the rest of it's life after so mine was wrecked with fine dust. The seals were garbage and weren't coming back for me.

    Parking brake knobs

Side note - this just means you need AC on your A0 truck and then the brake valve will fit the new AC center console correctly. Problem solved via application of wallet.

    Parking brake knobs

If there's ice in it you desperately need to service your air drier....... But really coachgeo has the right answer - rubber shrinks in the cold. The whole assembly is not that expensive - replace it and move on. If it's a PITA to get it out on the A0 trucks then this is an opportunity for an...

    Parking brake knobs

The seals in the control valve assembly have failed. This is the one you need: https://www.ebay.com/itm/164766081909 Mine did the same thing after years in the desert. I recall taking it apart and not really being able to fix it - don't recall off the top of my head why but I think it was due...

Long time lurker looking to buy

FMTV's won awards from the military for their outstanding reliability. They are one of the most reliable military vehicles the US has ever purchased. That said. Most that are available are 20+ years old, some approaching 30 years old, and the newest ones out there are at least a decade old...

    2003 M1078A1 3126B 330 horsepower flash

24v into 12v can work great for reviving starters that have been sitting for a long time and trying to turn over engines that have been dormant for many years. I've seen guys use that technique successfully. You must be careful and do it sparingly of course or shit goes downhill in a hurry.

New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

The end-bell of the Niehoff alternators is potted. You might be able to TIG weld a bolt or a tapered bit of all-thread to it in combination with some clever heat sinking and allowing to cool between short intervals of welding. It's not likely to ever have the strength it should have for this...

New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

The "fuse link" at the alternator studs was specified to be removed from the platform over 20 years ago. See page 3 of PS Magazine 569 from April of 2000: http://psmag.radionerds.com/images/a/a4/PS_Magazine_Issue_569_April_2000.pdf You *did* replace the fuse link with a washer to prevent...

New M-1083 owner. So, here we go!!

PVT Snuffy strikes again! I have found plenty of that on my truck - a 2008 with 1500 miles on it. My grid heater was wired to the 12v side of the LBCD. Just recently found that my air intake elbow at the turbo was on backwards. Had my truck a year and still finding PVT Snuffy's calling cards.

    Wire loom tape?

I'm down to check it out. Sounds like interesting stuff. let me know how to get a couple rolls.

    Mav’s M1088A1 Conversion

Did they post a video of it running? Issues idling could be a lot of things, but with a diesel it usually comes down to fueling and that's a 3126B truck which means possible HEUI issues.

    Wire loom tape?

Super 33 has it's place, but Tesa is just better in virtually every respect - it doesn't turn to goo around heat or fluids, has better abrasion resistance, looks more professional, etc. If your still using 33 for most jobs it's because you haven't tried the Tesa offerings. Just my experience -...

    Wire loom tape?

The current standard in automotive harness tape is Tesa 51036 and related sizes. https://www.amazon.com/Rolls-Tesas-Advanced-Harness-Mercedes/dp/B074YCG21Z It's an excellent wrap to protect against abrasion, etc. I second the use of heat shrink with sealant before wrapping with abrasion...

PDP panel cover latch part number.

They happily sell individual latches for $10 from their online store. I wouldn't be surprised if they will sell the spring steel safety catch by itself - maybe in a bag of 10 or 50 or whatever. The newest version of the safety catch is obviously redesigned for increased life compared to my 2008...

PDP panel cover latch part number.

This is the latch used on the PDP panel cover. I sent them an email asking if the spring steel safety catch is available on its own (both of mine are broken) but even if it isn't the whole latch is only $10. https://southco.com/en_us_int/91-562-07
