My sources in the military have noted that it's very uncommon and electrically the FMTV's weak point and most common failure was the 100a alternator. Having to order an ECU is rare and most of the time didn't fix the problem they were having - IE: misdiagnosed.
I agree that surplus trucks have...
ECM failures are absurdly rare. These engines are in 100's of thousands of school busses, FMTV's, equipment.... etc.
I have pointed this out before, but people seem to ignore the fact that the A0 trucks have a LOT more problems with their older generation transmission computer than the A1+...
Personally I'm reconsidering the need for the high speed gears. You may go faster but your fuel economy is heavily tied to wind resistance and that will not change so you'll eat up a lot of fuel trying to "go fast" - personally I put my cruise control on at 50 mph and enjoy the drive.

The A1 and even the A1R TM's do exist in normal PDF format without requiring EMS-NG, etc. It's a matter of finding them and that's not that hard as a veteran if you speak with the right people.
I was thinking you could call the contractor that built the crew protection cabs for Lockheed but it looks like they went under last March.

First generation crew protection cab from the HIMARS rocket system. They all went to auction several years back when the trucks received LTAS cabs to be fully protected against IED's etc.
I had to buy a whole cab to get the hatch. Also a JOB to get it off. They glued the hell out of it. It's...
MRAP = "Mine Resistant Ambush Protected" and refers to a classification of vehicles for which there are three general categories (I, II, and III) based on weight, size, and number of axles and currently there are over 50 variants.
So it fits *something* in the MRAP world presumably with a...
I called this morning and was told that production was at lunch and I would get a call back but that did not occur today. She did say she had a shipping request quote on her desk so that's positive.
Seems to have no significant meaning. My truck has no delivery date and was in Kuwait (import tag on the inside of the van door) and then purchased from the military out of El-Paso. I found a military railhead checklist signed by a SSG in one of the interior cargo boxes behind the seat. Also a...
I put one of those in my 1079 where the factory "ECU" (environmental control unit) would go. I have 1600w of solar on my roof and a 412 AH 24v lihium bank to run it. Haven't really put it to the test yet but it blows cold air!
Incidentally you can get the exact same unit from AliExpress for...
The crazy thing is that $344 is cheap compared to the price the government shows for the bags - $2075.09 for the bags on their own (each).
Strange thing is they don't want you ordering those apparently because the whole assembly that includes the air bag is only about $900. That's the bag and...
The correct air bag is a Power Packer PP997900:

Yes. You can use CAT ET to read all engine parameters in real time. You can also change things like the cruise control enable speed if you would like to add cruise to your truck. You can program the CTIS controllers, talk to every module like the ABS, Transmission computer, etc. The drivers for...
These come up fairly often and they work great. I don't think I would spend $75 on a cable - if you watch these on ebay you can likely find one for around $200. They don't have software with them but if you get one you can send me a thumb drive and I have all the software for these kits...
The engine mounted compressor units are absurdly powerful. They can drop ambient temps of 130 down to 75 in the cab with the gunner hatch open. They have a rating of 33,000 BTU apparently.
If the cable isn't with it that might be tough to come up with. You might contact NexIQ but 20+ year old diagnostic tool parts may be obsolete or they have to visit the basement and it's scary down there.
I would say there's an excellent possibility it will do something. Looks like a real pain to use, but appears to be free so can't argue the price.
