Correct: there is no safety wire provision on those 10 bolts/ nuts holding the drum to the adapter.
Not correct: that figure in post#25. That adapter (1) belongs to the front drum & hub assembly.

Specifically sperm whale oil, in sulfurized form, was the main EP additive used in gear oils until the late 70's, until it got banned (worldwide) as raw material coming from endangered species. At that time the price had already climbed sky-high (about USD6000/ton) so it was just logic that the...
The (internal) ratio between PTO input gear and reverse shaft gear is 19:13 (1.46:1). And the rear facing output engages directly to the splined end of the reverse shaft (encircled).
The foremost gear on the #6353 countershaft has 43T. Now we need to find out the number of teeth for the input...

That adapter is definitely not what comes stock on our T-cases, although the attached sleeve & flat shaft on the input side seem to be correct; as well as the slotted/female output, for the cable.
All these adapters can be disassembled and components switched around, for correct rotation. What...
Not sure about the O-rings, Gimpy. :???: Those are so-called plug valves... (quarter-turn, 3-way, tapered-plug, spring-loaded... in this case) They are all metal to metal contact; at least the ones I have seen so far. And that one pictured looks very similar, although we can't see the spring...
I use MS-PAINT for all my drawings, just because it is so much simpler to use than all other CAD programs. Now, make sure you have the good old XP-version and NOT the later Windows7 which is junk!

Both wheel halves are hot-rolled; stamped and/or laser-cut parts, assembled together by welding; then machined.
A custom made center plate could be bolted or welded in place. No problem... (for someone who knows what he's doing...!)

:ditto:
Besides that, HMMWV wheels come powder-coated and that kind of paint is very tough if it had to be removed completely.
Surface wet-sanding (400 grit) plus phosphating of any blanc spots- has worked best for me, to prepare for a new coat.
