I would put it in low range and make sure all tires were around 20psi. I would get a jack and metal plate and some big wood planks and maybe 6x6s. Jack one stuck axle/wheel at a time and build up underneath those wheels. Shovel anything around under there if you have to. Get it righted the best...
On dry dirt under load I didn't have any bogging issues. Maybe low range with the tire pressure in sand mode would have helped a bit. If I had looked at the "before" grass I wouldn't have though anything of it either though.
The nhc250 motors injectors can be adjusted but you need someone old school to do it. I used to have one that fogged mosquitos still it was decently warmed up and it still smoked a bit. Depending on the color of the smoke you could be burning oil also.
The first gen trucks have an all mechanical motor and are pretty easy to start. You can call me I am pretty good with them 203-378-7105 I will be around for a few hours

I still think something like a M1078 would be all around good. Nice ride, warm cab with 3 full size bucket seats plus extra storage room and weatherstripping around doors to keep the cold out. Although I dont, I could daily drive mine and be ok with it. I dont how the school would feel about me...
If the rpms are higher than they should be then the downshift could be harder than expected. Either way its going to be a hard downshift compared to a civilian truck. There is a throttle position sensor on top of the engine that is used by the engine computer. Its over the first fuel filter...
The lmtv trucks are more road friendly and I believe they would be better offroad compared to the M939 trucks. None are rock crawlers get a unimog for that.
I like the 3116 I can self troubleshoot it. I just don't know enough about the computerized engines. The local cat mechanics recommend the 3126 over the C7 they are not fond of the whole C line of engines.
There is no reprogram on a first gen truck. Its a mechanical motor. You can have allison adjust the shift pattern a bit but the ratios are what they are.
First variants have a cat3116. Whichever model you choose the engine is governed at around 2600rpms you can go around 57-59mph. The early A1 trucks have the Cat 3126 and then switched to the C7. You can reprogram for more HP but I dont believe they go any faster. You can put certain MRAP gearing...
You can get a small slave plug and connect it to a 24v trickle charger. I have small ones like this that work well they have a 10 or so foot cable already attached.
Those are not agm batteries. You have to measure the voltages at the alt regulator and the outputs of the alt. Its a common issue for the regulator wires
to go bad and you will have a low voltage issue. You have to run new wires to the regulator if thats your issue.
Hawkers need a deep 20-30 amp charge for 24-36 hours. They may not appear to start taking a charge for several hours. Once charged you can get a trickle charger to maintain them with agm feature.
Search for the serial on the truck yourself. The nloaqe is the military reg number the other is the serial. Sometimes the truck will have the serial stamped into the drivers side frame rail by the steering box. Govplanet may have the best intentions but mistakes can be made. Before you order any...
