Just installed a set of Overson hubs, real nice units, all metal. Snugged right up and look good. Now modifing the CTIS stone guards to fit. I'll post pics when complete, might be a couple of weeks, real busy with the farm.
Alex,
That price is very good for a M35 in that stated condition. You can't buy a decent 4x4 pickup for that. It will cost alot more to equip a plain/non equiped Duece.

Gary,
My thoughts are the same, something changed quickly in the trans. I have a sample of the gunk that came out the vent and it is not ATF. Hopefully the tear down report will ID the root cause. It will be a couple of weeks before I get it to the shop, hay season and other chores are on the...
There ya' go. Save the trailer mod money and put it toward your M35. The truck and trailer are a real eye catching combo, and you can haul anything any where.
Buy your deuce and keep the trailer original, M105s are way to big to be pulled regularly by a pickup. Your plan to modify the brakes sound good but will tough to apply to the unit.
WB,
I had 10 gallons of new Shell Dex III on hand and was prepared to drain and flush the system several times. When I discovered the trans already contained ATF direct from the Air Force I simply performed the task mentioned in post # 98. I was going to drain the pan again at the end of the...
My A3 was recovered early last year from Wright Pat. It had red ATF in the trans from the AF. Truck run fine, shifted a little high in the RPMs, ran 50+ mph. I drained and cleaned the pan, installed new internal filter and replaced ext. filter and refilled it with Shell DexIII. Replaced right at...
Drink lots of water (beer has water in it). Thanks for the call to Tom, we'll see what he has. Headed over to the truck parts house, going to pick their brain on local transmission shop options. There is a Allison factory shop in town, they will be expensive for sure. I was all ready to pull...
Hey Dennis,
Man I'm sick... Thought I did everything correct. Typical failure mode; loud squeal noise, trans vented some nasty smelling fluid and then no fourth gear followed by no reverse. Found real fine (powder) metal in the new external filter. I even checked the vent prior to taking it...
Hey Guys,
Found this thread and hope you're still out there. It just happened to me and my M35a3. Changed the trans fluid and filter and on first drive down the highway, no fourth gear and lost reverse by the time I got it home. The truck had ATF in the trans so I just changed the ext. filter...
Nothing wrong with asking the question, the "loose cannon" is the guy who doesn't ask the question, doesn't read the TM and just hooks up and goes. These MVs are pretty simple in operation, just have to understand the operation. Have fun and be cautious.

I have M146, the brakes are air over hydraulic. They are not true air brakes and are not locked when the air supply is disconnected. The trailer can be towed with out connecting the air lines, though not recommended.
Welcome to SS. Nice truck. I've gotten lot of different reactions to these MVs on the road. Mostly waves and thumbs up. My avatar picture is the drivers door of a M813A1 I drove home from Indy last year. Man did that get some reactions from the passengers of cars passing me. No Start was a...
Steel/Canvas has a point , the new washer may need to be threaded on the drain plug. You had to cut the drain plug off? A 6 point socket or box wrench would not get it loose? You guys mechanically inclined? Not an insult, it helps to understand the proper tool for the job. These plugs can be...
What happened to the copper gasket that was installed with the plug prior to you removing it? These gasket are re-useable if their not mashed, overtightened.
My buddy is in the same fix for his M923A2. He just picked up the pump from local Cummins, his truck has been right since he brought it home. Please post your results

Mike,
That came out beautiful. nice job on the details. Keep your eyes peeled for a set of tow bar clamps, I have the same idea for the tow bar storage.
