It did work as a conventional helo, (vertical TO/landing capabilities). The stub wings were to unload the main rotor at higher speeds, as was the pusher. It was fast, so the wings were to help with/lessen the odd aerodynamic issues you get with the differential speeds of the advancing and...
Hey, if that works would you mind going out and buying 1/35 resin kits of the M813, M920, MTVR, Bedford MJ, and MAN 630L2AE?? :-P
A company named Bilek makes a basic but nice plastic M101 in 1/35. Mine came from the Czech Republic I think, cost the equivalent of around $11.
Cheers
Well, yes, the tarp is on backwards but I wasn't going to front you out! :D
The narrow flap across the front near the top clips to the flap on the back of the cab cover to keep rain/snow from getting in between them (at least from above).
I always thought the cargo cover was a bit of a weak...
Thanks for the info Emmado. Now I too know what this thing is.
The base is AB-1284/VSO 1. The threaded portion is bigger than all of the other antennae, so only this one will fit.
Edit- I saw these on M1 Abrams turrets recently. Didn't want to post that until I had a poke around the...
A note of caution- Check the hinges for your batwings! They are just big rubber strips and they tend to dry rot. The end result of that can be having them fall off on you.
When we picked up Sarge's trailer mounted version from GL it had big cargo straps around it. We wondered about...
Well, my interest is piqued! I shall wait impatiently for the revelation...:-P
I am wondering about the 3-hour trip. Are you doing the Stranraer-Belfast crossing, or one of the fast boats? In my younger days I did the overnight between Dublin and Liverpool fairly regularly, if I recall...
Very nice models Trucker! Welcome aboard.
Since I personally dislike following links to photos (largely because half of them don't work a year or so later and we lose the content) I have taken the liberty of attaching yours here.
Cheers
Seems that way.
Like DrGreg, my 813 has a blanking plate over that hole. So does another one from my photo file (JimK's truck? It is next to the exterior shots of his)
Cheers
Not having mine in rentable condition is an easy out for me, fortunately. If it were finished, I'm afraid the repaint clause would probably still be a deal breaker.
Maybe PB's cash bond would sway me.
While our one 'big' movie experience with Paramount was good, as in they paid a lot of...
Glad you got that, Mark! I had been eyeballing it for a couple of months, long enough to talk myself out of buying another vehicle. Looked like a good one.
Cheers
Your work always impresses me.
I need to get back to building models, I used to produce them prolifically, and I have boxes of unbuilt kits. :?
What wheels did you use on this one?
Cheers
The 900 series cab sits just slightly higher and further forward than the 800 series too, which helps with spare tire clearance.
Even with both trucks on 14.00s, that 900 nose makes the 800 look much smaller!
Cheers
Yes indeed, the Marines used the entire CUCV series.
And yes, the marking could be authentic, but it would have been added by the operator or ? as it is non-standard. Looks nice though.
Cheers
Always liked that camo pattern.
The Swedish vehicles I saw painted with it in the early '80s were very exact in layout, there appeared to be no deviation in pattern placement from vehicle to vehicle. It was also extremely effective in that 'temperate woodland' terrain.
Cheers
As KsM715 said, that switch has two positions that give either bright or dim dash lights.
Also, in the 'park' position (with main switch in "service drive'), it turns off your headlights and turns on the front parking lights (inside the front turn signals). This is the only position in which...
