Rick; my answers to your Q's., in that same order...
1): Both units in question are scarce but available. While the (used only) T-case PTO comes up in the classifieds once in a while; a take-out transmission PTO-rear output-accessory drive (TAD) behind the winch PTO would be very hard to find...
Following may help to calculate, or better say estimate HP needed to operate our winches at rated power (and over), using the popular formula:
HP = torque x rpm / 5252
Winch facts:
PTO low range for the Spicer 3053 is 650rpm @ 1000 engine rpm; equals 520rpm at 800rpm (engine idle)
520rpm...
I have used such hair-pins instead of the original cotter pins, for the rear bumper shackles. The size of the pictured one looks about right.
To AMGeneral: I cannot remember ever seeing such a "tapered center support stud" on the (old) M35 spare tire carriers I have here. ..... Very curious to...
So they are the stupid ones... aha, really...?
Get THE tranny book: TM9-2520-246-34. Go to table 3-2 on page 59.
There you will find all size and fit dimensions / wear limits & tolerances for the mainshaft assembly... Line 19 shows L - P = 0.0035L to 0.0045L. That is 2nd gear I.D. less shaft...
Well, YES... for combat; and YES for 5ton since some MTV's are rated 5ton also...
And NO, those are NOT the 5ton combat supersingle wheels from the M939A1/A2 series 5tons!
BTW, they could very well come from any of the 2.5ton MTV's also, or even the M1082 trailer; they all share the same...
Since I found out how to easily convert a 5MB BMP-drawing into a 300KB PDF file, while maintaining the same original quality (no shadows or stains around objects, like in JPG) I'm posting both for everything I feel is worth it.
EDIT:
Update 03/31: .... so I just did some exercises...
Older M109's (gassers) also have these brackets which are bolted to the box subframe only; but they are spaced out a few mm and there are no plates on the frame.
Adding these plates must have been just one of the many "upgrades" from sometime during the 70's.

.... Canadian LAV III. See them here... (nice pics, BTW)
Wheel size: 20x8.5" (typical for 12.00R20 tires)
Wheel type: tubeless, 2 pc bolt-together, hub centered
Bolt hole pattern (metric): 8 on 275mm
Pilot hole: 221mm

Not another Franken-deuce, or...??? OK, we'll wait and see...... :)
YES, the 6CT's are very popular in this part of the world, too. Factory equipped in trucks intended to pull 45 tons GCWR (i.e.: Ford Cargo 4532e)
You flipped both (5ton)axles left to right. Was there a reason NOT to swap the...
Supernice! Great idea; will try this later with the Spicer... it maybe a bit more complicated than that, but......make it a 6-speed, at least?
Seriously speaking; one always tends to think that there was a reason for both - the 6- & 8-speed to co-exist, for the same vehicle and uses...
Good question!
I know there are different PTO versions out there, but all three I have here take a common elbow fitting only, at the bottom, and then two 3/8", spring-loaded bearing balls inside the pump (head)housing, arranged accordingly, to function as valves. Given the orientation of...
My words also!
I just took the rest of the day off (of SS), hoping for the best... (actually got a lot of things done)
Glad it got fixed so quick!
Thumbs up for the Great rescue work!

May be able to help out but need to know:
tire size?
wheel type? (width & backspace)
single or tandem rear axles?
end of frame would be with or W/O rear bumpers?
bottom of cab, or bottom of tool & batt. compartments?
G.
Well, the resulting TORQUE of your bodyweight X 5' should remain the same, with - or W/O extension (not considering inertia from jumping on the pipe's end).
Of course, the real IMPACT effect (ANY impact tool) is only possible without extension; that is, no cushioning "torsion bar" in between...
