What ever you do, don't try to tow it with the M35A2. You will be in for a change of underwear (if you are lucky that's all you'll need) when you get to where you are going!

Bjorn...you're right...the distance makes the difference. It the show was much further, I'd probably only bring one truck.

For which vehicle do you want a set of shackles? The prices are different for M35s, CUCVs, and armored vehicles, for example. ACE has (or has had) really nice CUCV shackles. I have new shackles for a deuce, 5 tonner, or 10 tonner. If you are interested in the latter, PM me.

I will definitely be there again. This year, I plan to have at least one and hopefully three trucks there. I have 6 spots and a couple of friends have another 6 spots...the same spots we've had for the last two years.

Very cool truck. I have long admired the former Soviet-bloc trucks and hope to get an URAL one day. One question on the Zil...does the rearmost axle steer? If so, how does it handle at highway speeds? I know an M274 mule gets a bit "squirrelly."

Better yet, why not study a truck that actually had a long and useful life in the military...the M35.

I'd recommend an M151A2. They are a lot of fun and are practical every-day-drivers. You can do 55-60 mph without a problem. I'd love to get another some day...

I have never seen the mirror covers before getting them with my fuel truck, and have not seen them since. I had no idea they even had such a thing...but, as you say, it makes sense.

Bjorn: That is a good question...I'm not sure. I will add that they had nylon camo covers for the west coast mirrors. Sadly, I sold them WITH my old 1987 M49A2C. I should never have included them, but I stupidly left them in the tool box and the guy saw them.

I'd also like to add that you might have to change the filters a couple of times if the truck has been sitting for a while before you started driving it. When you start to drive a truck after it has been sitting, all sorts of gunk gets stirred up in the tank and sucked into the filters...

There is a rubber grommet that comes with the fuel filter and should be replaced when you change the filter. This rubber grommet goes around the shaft that the filter threads onto. It basically acts like a washer. You probably destroyed the old grommet when you removed the filter. The...

I would say that the M1009 will be able to tow the M332 with a ton of wood pellets in it, but, personally, I would not feel comfortable doing it. Just my $.02... Get an M101A2 with surge brakes. They are a bit more expensive, but they will tow better and you'll have brakes! Plus, you can...

The M332 is a very heavy trailer for an M1009. It can be done...I've done it...but I would not load the trailer with much weight. I had better luck towing 1-1/2 ton trailers with my M1028 since the hitch is up higher and the trailer sits more level.
