    CUCV Odometer

No experience with military vehicles. That may be a good thing. Many CUCV's I have seen do NOT even have the original speedometers in them anymore. The gyro's in the speedometers would get wet , sand and dusty and then they would not work. So then a 40K CUCV vehicle was taken to the motor pool...

    M1008 power steering

You are not really able to mix the lines up. The ends are bent on way and the flare nuts are different sizes. You have 3 lines to the hydra-boost and they only fit one way. I can take a picture for you today if you would like. Good Luck but I think these guys are right about the air in the system.

    Easter find M1008 2015

I worked on the front differential and went and picked up the rebuilt transmission and transfer case. I have had slow progress lately. i have a lot of projects opened up. I was working on my Cadillac and the only thing that is wrong with my Cadillac is the right rear shock is bad. I paid a...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Damaged the right rear quarter panel on the Crown of Thorns M1009. I was re-stacking a few cars and the pile fell over and hit the side of my truck. I was actually digging a stacked car out of the pile to get some parts from it and I pulled my M1009 down so I could work out of my tool box on the...

Bought my first CUCV M1009, need radiator

Just use a standard p clip. Or a metal conduit 1/2 moon clamp works. Wire tie with a washer on the under side works. Be creative.

    Rear Main Seal Leak

If you have a rope seal for the rear main seal it needs changed. Everyone that I seen leak and changed was the rope seal. I out lined changing the rear main seal in my Terminus M1009 thread. It is really not all that bad of a job. But it is very dirty and you will get oil drops on your shirt. I...

What is it and why did it smoke.

Not everyone has good reading comprehension and can retain information as well as others. I am not in the OP's situation and do not need to know his situation. I just answer the question as it is presented. I work on an assembly line and everyday the same issues occur at some point in time...

    Easter find M1008 2015

I new 2 GM CUCV M1008/M1028 rear brake drums. I know some guys do disc brake conversions. I want new. I have several used but I want to put new ones on. I will resort to Autozone drums if I need to. I have used them in the past and had no issues. I was needle scaling these today and after I was...

    Easter find M1008 2015

A few parting shots of my progress today. Not bad for a days work. I cleaned the 35' Chimney on the house. Blew 10 huge bags of leaves, cleaned my Cadillac, and still had time to clean the shop good. i have come to the conclusion that the spots are dust particle in the air when the flash goes...

    Easter find M1008 2015

Made some progress on the Easter find M1008 today. Cab is in sanding primer and the front axle housing is painted. I also found a nice straight 99.9% rust free tailgate to use on the truck. That saved me from opening up a new one from the box. And makes this one more useful then sitting in the...

    Terminus M1009

The bulge keeps growing. Today I took the knife to it. I was afraid my grand children were going to get near it. They kept checking on it and giving me reports. It still holds air. I think it is just a matter of time till it blows out. I wish I could have been wheeling when it blew out. It has...

What is it and why did it smoke.

I think a lot of people have backed off on the "Read the TM's" That is a very annoying reply. Maybe the man is in a bind and looking for a quick answer. So I will try and honestly answer the questions that come up here. I helped you out in the past. i could have sent you a length of wire and a...

    CUCV Wobble Wobble

Do the research. It is called death wobble. It can me any number of things. Bad tires, sticking calipers, worn suspension and steering parts, steering damper, bad steering box, cracked frame, alignment, and the list goes on and on. I have had trucks that got it and it was a nightmare to resolve...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replaced 2 sets of the worn out oil soaked rubber radiator support insulator pads. This may put me into CUCV Hot Rodding but lets go give it a whirl. I used Prothane Motion Control. Sounds erotic. Radiator insulators Prothane Part # 7-712-BL they fit all GM big block radiator supports on...

What is it and why did it smoke.

Sapper. If you open the drivers door and look up under the dash board on the drivers side near the brake pedal support bracket you will see. A small box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. It originally was attached to the support but could be stuffed up there or wire tied in place. It has a...

What is it and why did it smoke.

I guess that might matter. Mine is set up in the stock form so it gets 25.7 volts to the top big studs. And I guess the small studs get 12 volts. I never thought about it much. I used what ever relays I found even stock GM ones from a 1979 C10 diesel work. But the snow plow relays work the best...

What is it and why did it smoke.

Do tell why NOT. I use a similar kind. I even use snow plow relays. They work.

M1010 for my daughter the field biologist

Good News. We sure missed you at Rausch Creek this fall. The guys all ask where Santa Claus was. I told them you were resting up and getting ready for Christmas and you would be back at Spring Rausch Creek to show off the M1010 and its awesome off road capability. Lest we ever forget. You sure...

    M1009 Brake Caliper Problems

I was going to ask you that but you kept showing tell tale signs of reverse backing plates. Glad you fixed it. And be sure to use some lube on the caliper pins and slides. It helps keep the brakes from hanging up and they wear even that way. Have a great day.

Need help finding backglass channel weather strip in liftgate

I have posted pictures of the Terminus M1009 gate on the thread. I used Trim-loc and sent some out to guys here on this site. I have had great success with this trim. It holds up well and allows the glass and bottom sash to glide up and down with ease. I have been using my gate hard in off road...
