They were emissions exempt for the military 30 years ago. They are NOT exempt for private use. And if it is in a green state they are harder on emissions. I have read this in the past about CUCV's failing in other states. In PA the diesels are exempt from emissions state wide. I support emission...
The cab is back down and all ready for primer. Everything is fixed. Now I have to get my axles done so I can get the frame together. Winter is sneaking in on me.
That's the one. They are available from several vendors. Parts Geek being one amongst others. Do you think that Stant # could be added to the CUCV notes for permanent record?
Stant #10076
I took the time to show you how the calipers fit the backing plate. this is left side. Drivers side. Note the notch on the caliper will NOT fit in the backing Plate. And to grind it off will not change the fit. The backing plates are not interchangeable. I think we all learned that. The notch on...
and if it's an MV the confusion magnifies.
You are the one creating the confusion. This vehicle is nothing special. It is a 1984 Chevrolet K5 Blazer. The fact that it was built for the military is about the same as it being built for the power company. Being a standard production line vehicle...
OD Fever. I always use the name Wile E Coyote Super Genius. I have a business card similar to that one with many of my services listed. Tigers tamed, computers verified, uprisings quelled, I like to be a full service guy. :)
So is the moral of the story that the backing plates were switched and on opposite sides? Strange story. I can't imagine someone grinding calipers to fit. Did you service the spindle bearings while you had this truck apart?
My Mule done that ever since I bought it 18 years ago. It is the relay releasing. If it starts and runs fine just run it. I do not have my resistors or anything bypassed. I have everything just as new. A C Delco 13 g glow plugs and all. If there is a reason it does that I do not know. Nature of...
Several years back my Son went on a deployment to Ketchikan Alaska. He was a heavy wheeled mechanic in the marine Corp and he was sent to Alaska to get several dozen CUCV's ready for return south to the lower 48. He was basically on a destruction mission. He was draining all the fluids and by...
today I replaced the hose for the overflow bottle. I just used some good old 3/8" fuel line. The older material had cracks in it and was somewhat stretched. I suppose that could have done the cracking of the over flow bottle. I remember how well my wife scrubbed and cleaned that bottle 2 years...
Are you sure this is an authentic CUCV. It looks like an imposter at every angle I look at it. The shift selector, The firewall, all seem odd. It looks like someone made this into a CUCV Clone. Do you have a left door data plate? And what is the first 9 digits of the VIN?
If it were me. I would just use Krylon and be done with it. And I would use a gasket and Permatex the right stuff. Why powder coat the inside of a front differential cover?
I would say no. But I am adding the supports to my Terminus M1009. I grabbed a few sets at the YOUPULLIT and saved a few sets over the years. I wheeled these CUCV's hard without them and am not sure they would make any difference. These would be very easy to make and not a bad idea to add extra...
The right rear tire is still holding air and the bubble under the tread is getting bigger. I was sort of afraid to get near it. So I got out the pressure washer and cleaned it all up and removed the layers of mud from the Rausch Creek run last Saturday. Mr Crusty also got a good washing.
Mr Crusty is all cleaned up and Son says he is retiring it from the mud whore life. It was all cleaned and painted and we had a few issues that we were unware of during the off road jamboree last week at Rausch Creek.
The front bolt on the inside of the right front housing in the Dana 60 was...
