    New Guy....M1009 CUCV

Very helpful, thank you. Having not personally laid eyes on a Marine CUCV since 1986, my memory of the markings has faded. I just can't bring myself to drive around in my M1009 with US Army on it! Nothing against you Army types. Cheers

    New Guy....M1009 CUCV

Thanks for posting that picture Blazer85, I've been trying without success to find info on how these were marked so I can do up my 1009 properly. E5, if you find your pictures, could you post those too? Cheers and Semper Fi

Welcome aboard and Semper Fi brother. I like your plans for the 1009 markings. Do you know how the markings are supposed to go on the camo Marine 1009, or have any pictures? I want to redo mine, but it has been too long since I saw one, I don't recall how they were marked. Cheers

    New V-100

Me crazy?? Mwoo-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha... ha-ha... ha.. Actually, I am good for a lot of marriages. When their wives get bent out of shape with them, most of my friends point at me. They don't have to say anything, just point, maybe raise an eyebrow. The wives get kinda quiet, they know things...

    New V-100

Mr Jones, if I can get your distinguished hat off, then I take that as high praise indeed! When I think of folks who can make things that impress me.... EZ, yes, I bet it did. This V, along with two or three others, was a hard target on a range (:evil:) before being picked up as scrap...

    New V-100

Some more pictures of the underneath. The ventral armour is quite pitted, this V sat for a while either with its wheels sunk into the ground, or on its belly. The plate is a 1/2" thick so some pitting won't effect its structural strength, but I still wouldn't care to take on any mines. As you...

    V-100 with M-60 Searchlight

B3.3T, do you have any close up pics of the Cad-Gage spotlights used on the V100/V150? Cheers Edit- I attached the picture from B3.3T's link above for "one stop shopping" convenience, and in case the link dies. It's a bit tatty, it is missing the horn, the fuel cap armoured cover, and all the...

    New V-100

That's true Scott, but I bet there will still be a few dropped jaws! I'm going to share a few detail bits here. The skills of individual SS members when it comes to this stuff just amazes me, as does their generosity when it comes to helping out. Once the V is finished, I am going to do a...

    New V-100

Sure it will...Temple 2010! (hmmm, that sounds a bit futuristic). Temple '09, which is five days from now?? Well..... The Vietnam re-enactment will have to live without it one more time. Lockhart maybe? Cheers

    New V-100

VJ, your T46 (M28 ) should be the correct one for the V100. They were also used in other armoured vehicles. I have two already or I would be interested. (Did you know that if you type 8 and ) next to each other the word processor will automatically change it to a smiley face icon, no matter...

    unimog's tire question

They fit fine, no rubbing or clearance issues with the Swiss rear mudguards, truck runs great with them. You will notice having to push the brake pedal just a little harder when slowing down. Stops like it should, just takes a tad more "foot". Cheers

    New V-100

Actually you could put a firing weapon in with no problem. You just elevate the guns, pull two pins on either gun and they slide out of the mount, you slide another gun in and put the two pins back. Depending on gun type, you might have to jury rig the feed chute. I don't know how big the...

    New V-100

Thanks EZ. I am sticking with the stock engine, it is an M75, which is a militarized Chrysler 361. This one is completely rebuilt to 0-hour condition. It runs very smoothly and sounds great. With the dual mufflers it is not loud but has a deep rumbling throatyness to it, sounds like the old...

    New V-100

1- Fan and exhausts 2- Mufflers mounted in rear scoop 3&4- Grill that covers exhaust scoop. You can see the deflectors that direct the exhaust up and over the rear edge. Pic 3 is the bottom of the grill. In pic 4, top is to the right, you are looking at the back . 5- All the lights and...

    New V-100

1- Drivers position. And yes, the parking brake handle is mounted incorrectly, that was just to get cable length, it is on the correct side of the frame now. 2- Hydraulic reservoir and filter 3- Engine bay. Big hoses on the bulkhead are bilge pump vent hoses. The smaller line behind them is for...

    New V-100

Progress report Having never tackled a frame-off restoration before, I was a tad over optimistic (ha!) at the start of this one (hull-off??) when it came to figuring out how long it was going to take. The realities of life, being what they are, have a way of teaching a little humility from time...

    New V-100

It lives!!! Today (Friday) the V100 was started and run for the first time with all it's own stuff (cooling, controls, fuel). Ran it for about 25 minutes, long enough to test everything. Restarted it several times just because I could. If you look at the attached photo, you can see the...

    M706/v100 WIP Link

Good job Shane, having spent most of today in and under my 1/1 scale version, I can say yours looks a whole lot better than the kit originally did. I have some photos of the underneath if they would be helpful to you. One note- I saw on one modeling site where they were talking about cleaning...

V-100 commando front axle's for sale

That's very decent of you Delby. Anyone in the process of restoring one of these vehicles knows just how hard it is to find original parts, in particular major assemblies. Current and future restorers will sing your praises for this decision. Cheers

    Trailer Identity Question

Okay, maybe we have solved the use question. It does look to have a generator up front too, no doubt to power the mood lighting and a sound system to mask the grunts. Not sure what the MI reasoning was behind all that, perhaps some secret squirrel stuff we mere mortals wouldn't understand...
