Take your air cleaner off and look on top of the engine, right side, there is one up there running from the front to the back and one short one. They are obvious when you look there. I had a similar problem to yours, replaced those top lines and all shift problems went away. Took 15 minutes...

This will give you an idea of the size of an M105 compared to your M1009, since my POV (Tahoe) is roughly the same size as my 1009. The M105, and even the M101, are a lot bigger, and heavier, than you would think unless you see them next to something to give scale. I threw in a pic of the M101...
