Yes, to what Jones suggested!
Did I read "... pretty darn good" with a MIG welder...? Welding up a few small holes should be no biggie than...
Do some practice welds first, on a piece of #18 or better #20 gauge sheet metal. Remove rust or paint around holes before welding!
Another...
Ty, search for "Vickers VTM-42" on ebay... or use this link http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce-modification-hot-rodding/23222-5-ton-mf-power-steering-pump-m35a2-6.html#post848956

Pickup tubes are different, yes, depending on application, how the oil pan is oriented.
Only the LDS465-2 has its oil pump outlet specified as 29 gpm at 2800 rpm; ALL others are 22 gpm @ 2600 rpm (TM 9-2815-210-34-2-1, page 1-14)

Have you tried any rebuilders??? ... like this company here: Steering Rebuilders & Truck Parts, Inc. - STEERING: PUMPSMedium & Heavy Duty Applications

In the non-metric world said screws would be described as: cross (PH3) round head, 7/32"-24, full thread, L = 11/16", W/ lockwasher, internally toothed.
More than often I have replaced those with M6x1.0 (metric) screws, 15mm long, with almost identical head shape and diameter (10.5mm)
They...
Oil pump part# is the same for all Multifuel engine models except for the LDS465-2 (TM 9-2815-210-34P, Fig. 20)
LDS465-1 Trouble Shooting Manual, pages 33 to 45...
Procedure would be the same for all, only different (prob. lower) manifold pressure for the LDTs.

Look at his pics#3 and #4.... that tab seems to be there, intact...
As to what exactly caused it to come apart.... we already learned that this is one of the Deuces weak spots. Also, that when they upgraded installing solid bushings, the original pivot shaft most probably remained the same...
Try again but first you should....
1) fully understand how it works, internally; (how it should, at least...) see diagram below and also this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?32130-shifting-sprag-tc-how-works.html
2) disassemble, clean and inspect that shift rod. Replace...
Don't know that much about planes but enjoyed watching this interesting vid about C47s (DC-3s?), still in service, carrying supplies and people to remote, isolated villages in the Columbian jungle.
It always amazes me seeing old MVs (or planes in this case) still on active (civilian) duty... and...
Good info! That chart more or less confirms what I have found so far: for the HF54 with the 9"(Ford) pitman arm it only takes 3.5 turns at the ST wheel to turn the knuckles fully right-left; about 9" of draglink travel, or what is called "sweep".
That's why I decided to use a shorter arm, 7.5"...
It has been done already, also see this thread: https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?64934-hydro-assist-manual-steering.html
BUT.... keep in mind that also for this conversion, one major drawback still is finding/buying the (MF 5ton) PS pump.
Also the limitations of the stock manual...
You are doing nice work, Jon! Usually good things take good time...
And I can see you solved the draglink problem already.[thumbzup]
YES, in either case, but not to much left for using spacers.
Pics show the box mounted without spacers, sitting flush to the frame inside. About 5/8" left from...
....and is there a - search function where I can type in "door latch repair" and it tells me all I wanted to know? Luckily YES!
http://www.steelsoldiers.com/early-deuce/34782-m-series-door-latch-repair.html
If that doesn't do I can post even more pics of every single component and how to...
.... put them on the front, or the RR axle at least, besides a few sandbags tied to the rear bumpers... and try again!
BTW, engine sounds & runs great!

Wrong! NO input shaft seal needed and no sealed bearing either, but a shielded one, which is NOT the same.
Shielded ONE side only, on the inner side of the tranny!

Read again, it says within 1/2" and I understand that they meant recommended level to be anywhere between 1/2" low and overflowing out of the fill plug...
More of the same.... here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/39262-duece-tranny-capacity.html#post432806

I'm trying to imagine how that kind of "miss-shift" could leave the syncro inoperative, but guess everything is possible...!?
Let's wait what he finds...
Pic shows a 4-5th syncro from its 5th gear side, and shifted into 5th position.
G.
Don't know....that tranny really looks too new! If that gear was seriously overheated it should appear blue-ish/ black, not gold braun... If that tranny had never been shifted into 5th those gears never saw any load yet on the teeth flanks, to appear clean and polished. What if that varnish is...
