    V-100 Crew Member Vietnam 71-72

Welcome aboard Jeff. "Interested" doesn't even begin to describe how much I/we would like to see your pictures, trust me. I am currently restoring one of your old warhorses- http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?t=23235 Several other guys on here are doing so, or have done so. So...

    New V-100

Here are a few more pictures. Pic 1- A bullet hole in the engine bay frame from when the V was used as a hard target . Thought it was a significant part of its history, so it stays. It will be behind the engine bay panel anyway. Pic 2 &3 - Self explanatory. You can see the inner...

    Picked up the FOX

Hey Bow-man, I'm trying to be patient, but... How about an update and some pics? Details, man, details! :-D Cheers

    New V-100

Thanks Joec. Wish I could claim responsibility for that sweet looking interior, but all credit goes to Earl, the sandblasting and paint was done before I bought it. Sam, is this the V100 with the 'deer hunter' light you were thinking of? Might be a tad large for the side of my turret. :-)...

    My Problems!!

See, lstmate knows that techno stuff! That still leaves the question on why it takes so long to load the first page. My guess was that the computer security stuff at work was examining the site for politically incorrect or "not allowed" stuff, eg you can't open Craigslist, Flikr, etc., you...

    My Problems!!

Yes, I have problem 1, but only on my computer at work (where I am not supposed to be looking at SS anyway...). It is a very high speed connection, but the site takes forever to load and sometimes does all the other things you describe, but mostly I get a very longlasting blank OD...

    New V-100

A few outside. 1 & 2- Drivers hatches 3- Looking back over the engine bay. The dirt dobbers seem to love this thing too, little buggers keep building nests in it. 4- Exhaust shroud. The dual exhaust pipes come out the holes on either side on the lower corners below the fan. The mufflers...

    New V-100

Well, due to work, hurricanes, gremlins and whatever else, progress has been less than stellar on this project. Grouch, mutter, whine..... Things are picking up now though, and it should roll along a little quicker. Most of the wiring is in, fuel tanks are plumbed, brakes and hydraulics are...

WTK: How to find history of V100

Not easily, it seems, but I will forward the number to someone off list who might have some info. That is an early hull number, do you have the vehicle? I see from your signature line that you have a Dragoon. Is that the one we saw a thread on getting recovered from the trees? Looking...

    5 ton bed question

I have not yet found a fitted type tarp for the ISO bed, and don't think there is one. That bed was specific to Marine trucks, and as far as I know they only used the three piece tarp setup. The fitted tarp for the 14' bed will not fit, believe me I tried. Initially, from looking at pictures...

    5 ton bed question

Okay, when I attached that bed diagram, it was big enough to see. I'm sure that is entirely someone else's fault and not mine. You believe that, right??? :) I tried to edit the post, but I'm not smart enough to figure out how to take that pic off and replace it, so I blew it up a bit here...

    5 ton bed question

The brackets up front are for the spare tire carrier. The seats actually mount to brackets along the side with ball-lock pins, then have fold down legs underneath to support the outer edge. You can see the mounts in the attached pic, and one adrift pin on the floor. I also attached a diagram...

    5 ton bed question

The ISO beds are 15', regular bed is 14'. Cheers

updated pics of my hemtt restoration

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool: will kinda sum it up for me, with perhaps (in my best Homer voice) "Oooooh.. pretty Hemtt!!" Beautiful work, getting a lot of vicarious pleasure watching it transform from the "then" to the "now". [thumbzup] Cheers

    V100 Paint Scheme Question

David, I have been all excited about that book since you told me about it, really looking forward to seeing it. To hold us until the book comes out, here are a few pics borrowed off the internet, most from the 720th MP site below, to give some ideas of nose art...

    V100 Paint Scheme Question

Very true. I do a lot of parades with my 5-ton and I am often asked by other Vets if I will let them ride. My answer is always "Of course". When they climb in the back and smell the truck (all MVs seem to smell the same), you can see an expression on their face that no one else gets. And at...

    V100 Paint Scheme Question

Hard to answer that first question, and you will get many answers, but in the end, it is YOUR vehicle so paint it in a scheme that makes YOU happy. Many of these vehicles that served in Vietnam were returned to the US afterwards (surprising number really, including damaged ones) and used well...
