Some good reading in this thread: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/deuce/37483-pulled-transmission-today-3.html
It is obvious that posts #32 and #34 meant to say ..... put tranny in 1st gear... (not reverse!)

JG, I just don't see the real advantage in your case, since parts are not easily interchangeable... Maybe save some $$$ and convert to disk brakes, one day!?
Admitted, a (floating?) brake shoe pushed against the drum with even force to both ends will perform better causing less deformation to...
That is correct for the M105A1 which only takes one cylinder per wheel. The A2 versions use totally different shoes/ cylinders and other parts and 2 cylinders per wheel.
See both styles in TM 9-2320-213-14&P, section II, fig. 10 and 11.

Well, if I found an input bearing that bad I would probably prefer to go through the entire case to check what else needs attention...!
Now, you don't have to separate the TC-housing halves if only that bearing was to be replaced. It should come out enough to be grabbed with a puller, after...
OK, nothing to be adjusted on the sprag clutch itself. It needs to be replaced if worn out.
Not clear what transmission you have or how the TC is shifted in your truck - just make sure the sprag selector shift rod is allowed to come back all the way out (to the front = forward sprag engaged) as...
Seal retainer correctly seated??
Remove the drive flange. Is there any free play to be felt in<->out, when pulling at the stub shaft? If so, is it consistent all around 360º?

No, they are different! I know for sure that the Deuce's are 1.50"-10spline while the 5ton I guess are 1.75" - 10spl. (?)
Also measure the disk O.D., it should be 13.0"

Thank you!! I got used to draw and (re)design stuff using simple tools like triangle and compass for about 30years... then I "discovered" the advantages of MS-Paint which hopefully will help getting me through the next 30....!? :D
(Is it MV related? Maybe, could be, depends....... ;))

Well, this all can't be no mystery.... !
I'm assuming the retainer cup was inspected & cleaned inside before assembly...? :) ...also, that a NEW bearing ball was installed??
What about spring size and rate? What I believe is the std. size has a wire diam. of .063" with about 10-11 windings but...
