Get some Mr Bubble mixed with water and a paint brush and go over everything. This was how we found leaks at the second largest air conditioning manufacturer in the world. I kid you not.
OMG spend 10 hours in a 915 and you will be ready for a few days rest. These things are only slightly better than a full tactical truck. These trucks are good for local drayage and such. I love mine but just for occasional use.
Welcome Steve. The M38A1 would have carried the same docs in the folder, not much has changed over the years. The binder itself would have been a green one with no camo. A vendor has these on ebay very reasonably.
You can post questions about your M38A1 directly in the M38/M38A1 forum.
Air ride? I think about that often. Huge job to remove the Hendrickson walking beam setup and then find a donor air ride tandem set up and redrill the holes for it in the frame. Try an air ride seat first. Helps some.
Welcome. That is a very nice well equipped GPW. It definitely appears to have had a ground up restoration. Any provenance would have had to be discovered by the person doing the restoration. (uncovered markings etc.) In general, '42s typically remained stateside.
Welcome. I will chime in on 6, until the fuel leak is fixed, starting will be difficult. Often the fuel filter base is to blame. Also, check your glow plugs for continuity. When those are burned out, 6.2s hate to start.
Welcome, nice truck! The red circle thing is your stoplight switch. Take it off and bring it to a heavy duty parts house for an updated replacement. Please don't drive it with 60 psi air in the system. All 915s ride like that, they will jar your teeth out with the Hendrickson suspension...
Welcome and congrats. I flat towed a 1078 back from Sleazeville to HOUTX but that was zero fun. Took 16 hours door to door. Have some hotshot drivers on standby. Rear top bows have to come off if so equipped.
One of my sore subjects with my former hometown truck manufacturer is the lack of an end treatment for the winch cable other than a clevis. Well here is my solution, the tailchain hook assy from a M35 series truck. Red River Parts fixed me up, ask for the heavy chain, they have a 3/8 chain...
Try this guy, he is from Magnolia: lynx1hotshot@hotmail.com. 832-605-0466. Has a great new Landoll and did a great job on an overdimensional job for me a while back.
It goes without saying that driving this on I-10 at 35 mph is not an option.
Air up that tire, remove the banjo bolt from the wheel stud, and soap test to see if you get a bubble in the banjo fitting. If so, the wheel valve could have contamination or be defective. If that is good, the O ring at the wheel flange is likely bad. Hard to bubble check that unless you use...
My new MTRs are all 08s too, I'm just really glad Goodyear does not agree there is a factory defect with them. These have the Kevlar sidewalls which is a new thing for tires.
