The TM I was reading does not specify a torque for the inner wheel bearing nut, only tighten until the wheel binds while the wheel is rotating, and that 1/2 turn loosening of the wheel bearing nut is 4 times farther than the TM says.

I will admit that I would not be able to identify a sealed or non-sealed u-joint. (In the process of having my brother "learn me" on this subject...)
The u-joints were surrounded in grease before (in the joint itself and inside the knuckle). I removed all of the old grease in the knuckle and...
Mr. welldigger to the rescue again. Thank you, thank you, and thank you for all 3 answers. The rust prevention is a good point for the spindle, and my truck didn't have the outer seal, no wonder I couldn't find it.
Since I have the outer seal, and if I decided to put it on, I assume I would...
Several questions here as I can't seem to find the answer in the TM and/or don't know the right words to search for on the forum...
1. Why is there grease on the INSIDE of the drum assembly?
2. Similar to #1, why was there grease on the spindle (the yellow)? I can't ascertain as to WHAT they...
I am slowly still servicing the front axle.
I ordered new tie-rod ball rubber cover (and super glad I did too!) while I still had it apart. (the old rubber cuber is seen sitting upside down on the knuckle on the right)
But then I just spent over 4 hours and two trips to Ace Hardware to get...
My sympathies to your social life, any family members, other hobbies, and most of all, your bank account.

Welcome from your westerly neighbor state!
I wheeled and dealed a used Mohawk brand Military 9.00x20 NDT tire from a local ad. This is to replace the "cupped" and worn passenger front on the deuce. I probably still paid too much for it ($90) but it seemed like a good tire (~70-80% tread if I had to guess), and I didn't want to spend the...
I'm just replying to this old thread to link Wildchild467's mod that he spoke of above, for those who may have been curious.

I highly recommend what others have suggested, replacing the 5 flexible brakes lines with peashooter's. They are the best money can buy.
On that note, since the silicone brakefluid (DOT 5) is spendy, I'd closely insepect/rebuild each of the brake (wheel) cylinders on the axles (if it's not...
I started the reassembly of the passenger side of the steering axle.
Upgraded inner-axle seal and zipper-less boot inner clamp:
I used 4 hand clamps to help me hold the outer boot lip edge in place as I worked around and around seating the outer boot lip and clamp. Still, this took me two...
I measured, and remeasured, and remeasured again (in as many different spots possible) the bushings, steering knuckle pin (kingpin), and the steering knuckle pin sleeves. Everyone of them were in the "Size and Fit of New Parts". In fact, the king pin was just slightly larger than that new spec...
A far more appropriate question for your state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and you local state/county/city law books, than here.
Imagine if someone piped up and said "No worries, you're already good to go, just don't drive it commercially!" - but you weren't actually good? Imagine the...
Continued the axle service last Saturday and broke a hard line trying to remove the wheel cylinder (I didn't realize that the hard line could be seized to the flexible line and then could still spin even if you had the nut backed up with a wrench), and have decided while I have a mere 1/5th of...
Honestly, I can't quite tell. I've only done the passenger side so far and the upper and lower plates seemed very tight and it took quite a number of minutes to slowly work them off. I would believe the bushings were fine?
(the following pictures are of the passenger side, upper kingpin...
