Actually I have been in that same situation. When backing up if he had cranked the wheels hard right it would have pulled him over. I mean backing up to the other side of the creek and up the bank. Then cranking hard left the truck would have moved over to the easier spot.
Been there done that.
If it had been the Marines, he would be extremely strong ! Like my drill instructor used to say. Either you will get smart and learn or you will be exercised until you do learn. Either way the Marines will get a smart or strong Marine !
This video just shows that there are some extremely ignorant deuce owners out there ! Evidently he doesn't understand the concept of moving the line of attack which the guy on the ground was trying to tell him to do. Very sad to watch.
You never want to take engine air and put it in your cab ! That is a easy way to get really sick. Unless your engine is spotless and doesn't leak a drop of oil then maybe you could get away with it. I've been in a truck that someone did that too. The oily air coated everything. The windshield...
I'll keep my eyes peeled for any plugs down here. I still kick myself about this old fart down south of Chehalis WA. that had over ten acres of nothing but old M135 trucks and parts. He was going to give me some great deals if I took a large portion of his parts. The sad part is I said no. He's...
That was one of the first things I replaced on my M1028 when I first got it. The one I installed was from a 1984 suburban with cruise control, intermittent wipers and tilt column. I still haven't installed the intermittent wiper assembly or cruise control, but someday ! If I live that long.
I'm still looking for a complete Hydra-Matic to rebuild. I have a few car ones but no military units with the rear splitter unit.
I'm also still looking for a decent M135 or M211 to start playing with. I'm still kicking myself for not buying a few a couple years back when they where dirt cheap...
As mechanics we know the damage things like "submarining" can do, so we prepare ! Also if you ever had to run a wrecker you see some pretty messed up stuff. So you start to think what would I need in a situation like that. Then that kind of thinking eventually starts you down the rabbit hole...
So you actually plan to install a snorkel then ! That means your going "submarining" again. Personally I don't want to deal with all the maintenance you must perform after you submerge a truck. Even though I installed all the stuff to allow me to submerge it. I did it because "you never know" ...
There's really only one way to prevent condensation from forming and that is to install a small heater in your vehicle. You will have to leave it on all the time now until spring. In my deuce I keep a small heater running. If I don't the insides look like a rain forest !!! Large drops of water...
You really should never mix batteries like that. The older battery will shorten the life of the newer battery. Since you need two batteries at least, or four if their smaller ones. Buy them all at the same time. You will save money in the long run and your truck will love you more ! :D
