Yup spiking is advance warning of about to catch fire. You can remove the transformer rectifier box and be left with a perfectly good and reliable 12 volt alternator.

Congratulations on your purchase. The lube order “LO” calls for OE30 (OE means oil engine) for the engine, which translates to 10W30. Most of us use Dexron ATF in the transmission, which is 10 weight oil with additives needed by automatic transmissions.

Since the brake system is not much different than any dual circuit light truck, I would “bench bleed” the master cyl to make sure no air is trapped in there.
