I'm not qualified to answer this personally. The weak link on those trucks is the Allison. I think gvws over 50,000 will make for a short transmission life.
Both the 915 and 916 even with 6x6 will get stuck on wet grass with the stock street tires. Now if you replace those tires with the readily available 395s, the traction improves immensely for both trucks, but tire life is greatly reduced.
The 916 is gear bound to about 55 mph and is a...
We are seeing a rash of folks with early 2000s A1 trucks where the hold up battery in the ecu dies. If the engine runs with either, that is a sign of this. Check your fuel prime, if good it's time to find a mechanic with a Cat ET scan tool.
Welcome Don, I can walk you through it as I operate my M915 in the same way. First of all, insurance, we don't get into that discussion on this site, basically walk into an agency that insures commercial trucks and tell them how you wish to operate. Next, you have to establish operating...
How cool is that. Still can't understand why the M Gator is John Deere green and not OD. Speaking of John Deere green, since we have the ears of a corporate dude, will you please tell Horicon Works or where ever these are made to do a better job cleaning the laser cut parts before paint! They...

Several ways:
1. Replace the wires one at a time.
2. Refer to the Technical Manual
3. Find TDC of #1 cylinder in compression stroke, see which tower the rotor is pointing to, then place the remaining wires per the firing order. I think the distributor turns CCW.
I agree with this. Holland did not make the original fifth wheel on these trucks. Dayton Steel Foundry did. Holland made the fifth when that was used to replace the original starting in the 80's.
I thought the consensus was 3.07 IS ideal? How much faster than 65 do you want to cruise?
The deal at MTP is you ship them your chunks ($150) and they ship them back all 3.07ed up. If you let them do the chunk pulling, the price goes up. Joe is POC at MTP.
Why would anybody want to have gearsets made or install takeouts when brand new Meritor gearsets can be installed by MTP Drivetrain for $1750 per axle?
