Sorry about getting off track here, if you end up getting the truck, it will be very interesting to see if it has a GEP block, as GM quit making the 6.5 in '00. Seems unlikely that they would still have inventory of 6.5s to use on the 3500HD carryover model.
I have the exact same problem as you. If the 548s came from Texas Forest Service, maybe they can assist with requisitioning surplus tracks through the FPP program. If not, get with beltfed on ebay, he may know who has some tracks stashed away in central Texas. If you break a pin, I have about...
I would do what richdane reply 54 did. I dry sanded my HMMWV in my garage with zero respiratory protection 15 years ago and I'm still kickin'.
The isocyanates are bad when the paint is uncured.
Haha he posted in the TM upload forum, was not possible to answer post until now. Sounds like your transmission harness has shorted wires. Check the harness end to end very carefully.
In my opinion, the key to reliability in these trucks is to replace the 1984 engine/transmission with a early 2000's HMMWV takeout GEP 6.5 engine with 4L80E overdrive transmission. This is a drop in swap with the only tricky part being the transmission controller.
What year is your truck? Need to know that to advise where the computer(s) are. Tachometers were standard on winch trucks, you will need to find the components that were installed on winch trucks.
And maybe the cable is broken in the conduit. Pull the end that's in the transmission and see if the plunger moves when soldier b presses the gas pedal.
Its funny how those goats have been discussed on this forum so many times over the years as they sat there at the forestry yard forever. Everyone speculated that they were going to be scrapped.
Look at post 4. Based on that data, looks like Willys was cranking out about 1500 jeeps per month. So your is about 3240 jeeps after serial 75910, or 11/54 give or take.
You should not have a hinged grille though.
Curious how the ear got broken off? Let me guess GP forklift rash? Hopefully the shaft is not bent or case cracked. Had to be an immense force to break that part.
