Have you thought about going with Stainless-Steel ? Here is one pretty cheap EDITED I went with the newer cast-iron ones from Sanderson for my small block.
Really "Turds" ? Porkysplace mentioned his concrete business which uses Laser levels which is very interesting. Before that cucvrus and myself mentioned that he would be better served going and getting the frame checked out by a shop with the proper equipment to help "pinpoint" any problems...
Actually since there is no more Deuces coming out of the military we only have what is out there now. So as time goes on, they will get scarcer and scarcer until they are no more !!! . Of course people like us will hang on to them but the price will start to go up to meet demand. That is...
Any "Detroit Locker" style limited slip differential will be hard on parts, especially axles and side/spider gears. That's just the nature of the beast. They are the best and strongest of all the limited slip differentials except the "air-lockers". In my opinion the air-locker is the very best...
They work fine as long as the seals (O-rings) are maintained and the control module doesn't go "tit's up" on you. Saying that is easy, actually maintaining the system is another matter ! Since that means the tires must be busted down to fix those seals !
, Its an EXPENSIVE hobby no matter how you look at it. ( be prepared to buy more, one starts with ONE and finds they suddenly own 5 )
They breed you know ! ;)
You get back from your trip and you had fun and decide that its time to sell the truck that you have 24K into and find out that almost NOBODY is even asking question on your for sale add, the reason is you paid 12K then added 12K of accessories to fit YOUR needs and now you cannot sell it? The...
1/4" is extremely good ! I have poured slabs before and if you use the bull-float to much you can push to much material where you don't want it ! This laser mounted "screed board" sounds interesting though ! I wonder if you can rent them ?
This brake fluid issue has something to do with use too. My daily drivers all have DOT 5 and the fluid level stays where it is suppose to. My deuce which doesn't get driven much anymore has the disappearing fluid trick. Really strange !
Actually reverse is controlled electronically in this transmission since your using the direct clutch. If it was the band at installation it would have been bad from the beginning not later. I agree with the shop here. There is something in the wiring or control module that is bad.
It's interesting you mentioned the NP241 transfer-case. There is quite a lot of aftermarket parts available now to beef-up this unit to handle much more power. If you don't need the PTO it would be a viable option for this truck.
Having the long end at the steering arm is just to avoid any contact with the steering knuckle when turning hard right. I have seen them installed both ways and never seen any contact. Though if you turn the tightening bolts vertically you probably could have contact during off-roading.
At this point I would go with the after-market controller. There is something seriously wrong with your present controller or wiring to cause such damage (like a direct short). You could spend weeks trying to find the culprit in the wiring and in the end being forced to go after-market anyway...
I have also found that the DOT 5 brake fluid seems to want to "migrate" out of the master cylinder over time. I have also never found a leak but the fluid level does go down ever so slightly.
Well our last base was built in 1976 and I don't remember any Lasers then. In todays world your probably right, but I still don't see any driveways built with Lasers. That is quite interesting though about using Lasers to level concrete. My father and uncle where contractors and they would have...
