I'm thinking that is why your alternator is not charging. The alternator has internal protection logic that will not allow excitation if there are incorrect voltages at the posts. Someone has goofed up the wiring on your truck between the batteries and the alternator, or the reverse polarity...

That tells me the issue is internal to the transmission. Hopefully member "rustystud" will chime in as he rebuilds these and knows them in and out. I don't.
To me, checking this involves pulling it out of the transmission and verifying the plunger moves with the gas pedal. I am focused on this item because on a vacuum modulated TH400, it will also not shift out of first if not functioning.
Since "they" convinced you to buy the wrong alternator, you will have to figure out how to attach the huge cable to the little stud on the 60A. Recipe for disaster.

The body tub is the same between trucks set up as 4 man and the 2 man tallbacks. Everything related to the troop seats bolts in. Shelter carriers did not have rear seat risers.
