The "hard to start" issue is from the fuel system loosing prime due to air leaks. I would assume that something is wrong with the rubber lines in between the tank and the inj pump. I would buy several yards of rubber fuel line, clamps, an aftermarket electric fuel pump, wire, inline...
The $4000 line haul trucks have Cummins NTC400 BCIII's driving 5 speed HT750 Allisons. The $10,000 and up are the Freightliners with the 60 Series. All of them are DOT ready. Search "M915" on this site, lots of hits of folks using the trucks for hauling grain and corn. The 5 speed Allisons...
Before you wear the batts down, make sure the mechanical pump is getting diesel to the inj pump. The little bleed valve on the filter should have pressure. If the engine quit while running, the glow plugs have nothing to do with your problems. If you have ample pressure at the inj pump, check...
Nice! By extra winch on top, are you referring to the behind cab mounted 20K winch and headache rack? That belongs there. Enjoy the LD engine, I miss the one I had.
Hi Pete, welcome to the site. I have had super results with a freight broker, only prob is he retired! The loads that come from this board are tricky, almost always drop deck with ramps required, and lots of times the equipment does not run, requiring wreckers to load/unload. Complicating...
Sender p/n's are 0-80 PSI is a Stewart Warner 279A. 0-100 PSI is 279B-F. I believe the sender is what is drifting off calibration. My 915 reads low too.
WWII halftracks have diamond plate floors. On the M200, soldiers were expected to walk/climb on the fenders in order to service the MEP's mounted on the trailer. Hence the need for a non-slip surface. I think the M200's came out in the early 1960's, but don't quote me on that.
NSN ending in 3 = Signal load; 4 = Engineer load; 5 = Ordnance load. The Engineer load had the horizontal cylinder mount which I believe is shield gas for the Miller Spoolgun SMAW gun. All have the PTO generator and electric air compressor.
Agreed, power distribution/switch box. It does not appear to be part of the trailer, it is standing on it's side. The colored plugs are for 3 phases and a green one for ground. Looks 100 kW ish?
Sweet, a survivor! I've been looking for one of those, or the bed for one, forever. Post up more pics when you can, something is going on with the winch set up, looks like someone grafted on a frame extension?
You need to call Wallace Wade Vintage Tires. Website shows a 7.00-18 Specialty Tire of America tire in 8 ply, maybe they can source the exact tire.
Thanks for posting, finds like this are what keeps me coming back to this website day after day. Please post pics of the interior. Of course if...
