We were on our way to the Phillippines to buy US surplus, so it seemed like a great idea to stop off in Guam for some battlefield tourism. We met several MV collectors, the names of which I cannot remember.
Clean the new bearing? Is it covered in cosmolene? If so use gasoline (outside away from sparks fire etc). Otherwise just uncan it and repack with GAA or moly EP grease. Looks like someone got totally carried away with hitting the grease zerk for the rear wheel bearing.
Try the usual, loosen the injector lines one by one and see if the noise goes away. As far as being concerned, knocks never seem to go away on their own and usually have a bad ending. If it were mine I would plastigauge the rods and mains.
Hi Guam, welcome to the site. You will most likely not have to rebuild the transmission, only the valve body, which can be removed through the hole in the floor. You will need to search this site for posts made by "rracing" and the term "7155". He goes into great detail about what it took to...
Not seen much about these here or elsewhere, so I figured a quick review was in order. I was looking for some camping gear, as my son is about the age where camping will be a fun experience. I remember using shelter halfs back in my youth and I recall they were not that great. This 2 person...
My M135 came from Dumas, TX (north of Amarillo) and has the unit (bumper) markings of 72BG (72 Infantry Brigade) 372 ???. This was (is) a unit of the Texas National Guard. It was surplused in the late 70's. I bought it in 1982.
How cool is that! My M135 came from a TXNG unit in the TX panhandle as well. I bet they were stablemates. Can you transcribe the unit markings on the bumpers?
Does your truck have the B1 transmission? I was tempted to say it is a B1 based on the very factory looking rivets on the serial number plate, but what is fishy is that the seemingly original USA registration number on the hood is vintage 1950's, and the faded OD behind the stencil is the same...
How long have you operated the A/C so far? I would think the 3 fans and the compressor clutch would far exceed the ampacity of the 24 volt Leece-Neville transformer-rectifier. Hate to be negative.
Sounds correct. BMY seems to have used the last two digits of the M number, followed by a slash, and then a seqential number. Here is the main data plate from my M931A2.
I didn't miss it, I just don't need another M1009! One there was a rust bucket. The compliance decal is to remind agencies that accept these assets from the feds that there are lots of strings attached (listed on decal) during the compliance period, which I think is 2 years. I have seen...
Thanks, I have the identical ratt rig so if you need any pictures of the power detail I can help. If you end up pulling anything and don't want to keep it, please let me know.
Wow, incredible find. I have NEVER seen a shelter surplused with the radios still in it. Are the other units for sale? For the knobs, I would start with Fair Radio. They might have a substitute meter too, as the radios they sell have been demilled the same way. How is the UGC-74 under the...
