Initial recovery for the 925 was 960 miles.
I've put over 400 on it in the last month. 3800+ since I've had it. (2years)
Just not with a 11k trailer behind me. Or any trailer.
Going over truck now for the trip. 475 miles each way.
Trying to prepare for the unexpected
I figured the air...
There is a air switch on this trailer like in the 5 tons dash.
According to the trailer TM, you engage that and it's supposed to cage the brakes automatically.
Its gonna be a 900 mile round trip recovery and trying to Cover all the bases
Searched but no luck
Recovering a M989A1 Ammo trailer next week.
I know/think the Gladhands color hooks up to the same color on tow vehicle.
Whats throwing me is that on both my 5 tons, looking at the rear, the red is on passanger side and blue on drivers side. Looking at the front its...
Move it to the water pump.
While not as accurate as one would be in the crossover pipe, it will give a better and quicker reading than that port.
Mine me is at the water pump and does great. You can see the thermostat open.
The kicker is no tongue weight.
Loaded it's fine.
Empty and a radio flyer wagon tows better.
I get to recover a M989A1 next week and not looking forward to it.
Update
Towed it 402 miles home with the 5 ton
It towed like a dream. Heavy but nice.
I would rebuild the 400
Easiest and cheapest option.
Agree with the power (lack of) of the 6.2, it wouldn't make sense with the gearing you have.
The 1009 goes down the road great in stock form. Unless your wanting to go the 85mph speed
limit in west Texas you will be fine.
I was getting...
Sounds like glow plugs not working correctly or at all.
It fires off because it's warm outside but the glow plugs aren't doing their afterglow to keep it running.
If it's still a 24v system and you have a multimeter start the troubleshooting per the TM.
My Thoughts anyway
When fuel skyrockets again (oh it will) that mileage is gonna hurt!!
Luckily if I need tons of power I just drive my 06 LBZ Duramax.
I do miss the sound a 454 makes.
A few scratches only. Any bare metal gets either paint or in the beds case a spray of the metal protectant.
All the other places (hidden) have had a good spray of ACF50. It's the stuff our mechanics use on the Helicopters for corrosion prevention. Great lube also.
