I've put my M1009 in long term storage in a shipping container.
Will do same for a M1008. Both are for my daughters when they get older.
Wife also wants her very own M1008.
Several good ones have come and gone lately at auction.
I wasn't paying close enough attention and let them slip away...
Hauled 3200+ pounds of railroad ties and oak beam dunnage
M1008 did great getting it going and also stopping.
Handled better than expected.
Springs did sage a bit of course but not too much.
Was really impressed since I was a bit overloaded.
Hauled it 30 miles up and down small hills in 98...
I've been very lucky with all the MV's I bought so far
from the military.
All have been much better than expected.
My 1008 "looked" the worse, but once home realized all the really expensive work/parts was already done by military.
Im bidding now on a Army SEE (Small Emplacement Excavator)
A...
Most of these are way worse than what the military is selling.
I've been looking at the GSA site. Most are hamburger
I prefer mine straight from the military. Still a crapshoot of course
Yes I've personally seen a lot of the ones that were left in the sandbox. Those will never come back.
I know quite a few were at fort hood.
About 6 or so at fort Sam Houston
Some in background of auction pics in Kansas.
Same for Texarkana
Curious about what guys are actually seeing at the...
When I picked up my first CUCV at Fort Hood there were about 10-15 CUCVs waiting to be sold.
Only saw 1008 & 1009s about half of each.
But a lot have been sold out of there so I'm sure Pickens are slim there now.
Can find some with google earth on the bases but it's not updated often enough...
Didnt the 11 year old thread already answer your question?
Very clear to me on what and where it was. And you plugged your line in that exact same location.
No flame intended. Just wondering why you asked what was already answered.
If I missed something I apologize
It's impossible to know exactly how many CUCVs are left for auction I know.
Just curious what everyone is seeing while their on base. Some are still in service of course, but really interested in those that are ready to be cut loose from Uncle Sam.
GP auction pics show a few CUCVs sitting in...
I know this has been discussed before but it's been a while.
How many CUCVS have been seen lately waiting to be sold?
Sometimes you can see a few in the background in GP listing pics.
I know quite a few are still serving.
The auction pool is getting smaller each week
I'm in the market for...
We all have done stuff that later you do the "what was I thinking!".
Anyone tells you they haven't, they are lying or still living under a rock.
If you could see the terrain he went over with that rig you would be impressed.
Very well done indeed
Was it smart? Who cares. He made it...
Thank you.
Wife actually took that. I was watching traffic. She was standing in street.
Two classics in one pic.
I bet it's been a while since a military truck has been parked in front.
Had about a 30 second window when others had driven off and arriving folks had walked inside.
Less than...
Early Breakfast at the famous Cattlemen's in the OKC stockyards.
A very rare and perfectly timed pic to get the truck alone up front.
Place is always packed.
I lived in New Mexico for 17 years.
I know exactly where you are.
Holy Crap!
My hats off to you for making it that high, that heavy!
I Have a 06 LBZ and wouldn't have even considered that trip.
Well Done!!
oh, nice truck too
Agree on the road salt up there.
It will eat that truck up unless you do very extensive rustproofing and undercoating.
Both topics discussed before on this site.
He's correct.
These trucks are getting harder to find unmolested and without rust rot.
Pics would be great!
Welcome to the club!
I also use jet fuel. A lot of it. No Prist
Jet fuel is extremely "dry".
If you run it straight in a truck, add something for lube. I use two cycle oil.
Run it long enough without adding anything and injectors and injection pumps will suffer.
The great benefits of being in aviation.
