Welcome to the site. I do not think we have discussed your issue here before. As you may know, the Cat transmission has disk clutches on the input and output shafts that disengage below a certain engine RPM to allow gear changes. The "mainshaft" spins when in neutral, which explains your...
It is called the rod, support, left and rod, support, right. (shown in the ORD 9 parts catalog) It hooks to a slot in the bottom sides of the radiator. It captures the radiator when you do a "wet pull", which is change out the power pack (engine, trans, transfer). Call around to the numerous...
These were all returned from Iraq to be rebuilt. I've looked them over lots of times, but never been able to take pics because that is a big no-no at Red River Depot. There are 1000's of these parked everywhere. I suppose that someone finally realized that at the production rate of 5 trucks a...
Google GMTK for all kinds of info including the NSN. The 1" drive is for lug nuts only, to loosen and tighten. The 1/2" impact will not budge those. The 1" drive impact is nearly essential if the lugs were previously tightend with an impact.
The "senior mechanic" set is called the GMTK or general mechanic's took kit. It comes in a cumbersome Pelican/Hardig case (newer) or "top chest" tool cabinet (older). For the 900 series, here is what I carry and have never had an issue: 1" drive impact with Budd socket and hose w/glad hand...
What are the symptoms? I will assume no pull from the front axle when engaged: Check for air pressure to the diaphragm and no ruptured diaphragm. Check that the front driveshaft does not turn by hand (if it does, something is broken in the axle). If all this checks out good, the transfer has...
Take a look at the Walmart only Goodyear Wrangler "Authority". It is nearly the same tire as the Duratrac and costs $158.00, has good reviews. A set is going on my '09 as soon as I get it running again.
That won't work!!! You will discover the same thing that the CCKW guys did after WWII that tried to put a Timken transfer where a GMC transfer used to be in a banjo axle truck. The front driveshaft turns the wrong way.
Clearly a fuel problem. If the transmission or other power train component was to blame, it would be glowing red after absorbing 240 horsepower for hours.
