I would paint the truck in a non-military color scheme, afix US plates, and drive across the border like I owned the place. I've never heard of a US law that said you cannot drive your personal ex-military cargo truck across the border if you feel like it.
OK, I was busy at jury duty.
Mr Steve:
I am not in the compliance business, but being a manufacturer, it annoys me to no end to see employees being abused. Can't you drop $15 on a chemical cartridge respirator for your poor painter? A particle mask don't cut it. We the public bear the...
You should not build any more of these for sale to the public for use on public roads because to do so is in complete, willful violation of dozens of NHTSA regulations for vehicle completion manufacturers. You really should have your counsel look into this, before you get shut down or slapped...
Sweet truck! Looks like it is still under GM factory warranty? I don't think the frame rust is any big deal. Also do not see any cannibalization. I guess the real test will be when you throw two batteries to it and see if the 6.5 comes to life. As always thanks for the photos.
One bizzare reason for a diesel to run away happened around here a while ago. A truck was unloading LNG and a leak developed with a resulting gas cloud. The gas made it to the engine air intake and that truck and another near by "ran away" until both engines disintigrated. That caused the gas...
I would say no. It is a late 1960's truck that the Kansas National Guard looks like they forgot about since about 1975. An A1 would have the headlights in the down position.
OK I get to type this a second time because of the site burp.
On the lighting circuit, you almost for sure have a direct short to ground somewhere, that is causing the circuit breaker to trip. I would isolate the branch circuits from the cab one by one, until the breaker stops tripping. I...
Here is a comparison photo of a stock 5th wheel height for OTR use and the 916/920 height for the 172/870 trailers. The stock tires are 46" tall. 53's will give you 65 mph against the governor. Plan on 4 mpg or more than 50 cents per mile to operate in fuel costs alone. Ditto Wreckerman on...
If it were near me I would give up to $1500 for it. That truck originally had a shop van body on the back. If you are trying to generate revenue for yourself "flip", just keep in mind WY is kinda far from many concentrations of vehicle collectors, and the transport costs may sour quite a few...
Sorry to confuse: 3 piece rim=original (early) hemtt rim. 2 piece rim (bolt together)= late hemtt rim. Does anyone know what the issue is with the 3 piece rims are suffering demil cuts before being released? KMT has hundreds of these rim/tire assys with one lug hole burned to the pilot hole.
The 3 lever or pushbutton light switch also has a circuit breaker inside. Thanks for the write-up of your experience. This could happen to anyone experiencing a "runaway" alternator failure.
Jeeze, that thing is a creampuff! If it were down here I would give a grand for it. I don't see any rust. The transmission is a non issue. It is very hard to find M37s that are all original from the gov't and not all messed with. Love the 100 amp system as well!
