I looked at the manual to see what you were talkiing about. That line is the same as hydraulic brake tubing. I can see no reason why a flare union in the long line would pose a problem.
That is the second series 100 amo alternator. It has the rectifier inside, but the regulator is external. It is an upgrade to every vehicle that ever had the 100 amp system previously, and there were dozens of types from APCs to Jeeps. With the piggyback regulator, it will fit many modern...
Does the 100 Amp system charge? I love the growl sound it makes. If you change the rectifier in the grille to the latest type with diodes and not the selenium type you have, it can be a dependable system.
Very nice! I was considering something similar but I am very concerned that there would be too much heat buildup in the trailer on a 100 degree day, as the engine is air cooled, and may start to recirculate the air in the trailer. Any thoughts on this?
You are not the first Steel Soldiers member that this has happend to. 16 volts on the 12 volt battery pair is quite high. Should be 14 or so and 28 across both pairs with the engine running. The alternator is a commercial model and can be rebuilt by a good alternator shop. The "transformer...

The commercial trucking industry abandoned the 2 stroke Detroits back in the mid 70's for the Cummins. Now, the table has turned and the preferred engine is the Detroit again, but the 4 stroke 11 and 12 liter engines. It's all about mpg.
Here you go, the LH bracket looks to take a 7" dia cylinder, and the RH a 6" dia cylinder. Looks like a type Q bottle (75 cubic ft) fits on the left and a type T (40 cf) fits on the right. The type Q is the "owner type".
Edit: Changed the RH cylinder bracket to the same as the LH and installed...
BTW, on your hard starting issue: Cap off the fuel line tee feeding the heaters in the right front wheel well before trying anything drastic. I had my IP rebuilt thinking it was failing, but in reality the problem was air being drawn into the system through the heater electric pump.
Nice truck! My CUCV is from AK and it has the same heaters and swingfire socket. For road speed I recommend the 4L80E transmission and the TCI controller. I am in the middle of adding this to mine. Others have posted about this swap, search "4L80E CUCV". What is the scoop on the camo?
