Great Mark! Put me down for emergency parts support if needed. I can pull any CUCV part and next day/counter to counter it to you anywhere if you have issues. I'll visit your page to see where all you are headed.
Welcome to the site. Vintage Power Wagons may be able to help you on the seats and glass items. They are VintagePowerWagons.com. GENSCO may have your tire, thats a monster, they are at noflats.com. That info will cost you a glass of chardonnay. :-D
Joe, My CTIS is not connected. You are in a great area, the San Antonio MV collectors/ Steel Soldiers are an active bunch, do a search for the "Texas Transportation Museum" thread, they put on a great show out there which I missed. I'll be at the Museum of the American GI rally in College...
Today, with a tired M1008 I was pulling around a 8000 lb mini excavator on a bumper pull equipment trailer that weighs around 4000 lb. With this weight, you appreciate the stock gearing.
Wow in all my years of collecting this stuff I have never seen one of those. It looks like a Delco-Remy version of the Autolite waterproof distributor, it is very similar to the 6 cylinder version found in the gas deuce and 5 ton.
Keep it out of overdrive, keep the speed to no more than 50 and you should be ok. There is a storage place about 1/2 mile east of the RRAD commercial truck entrance turn off from the Hooks, TX main road.
My M1037 shelter carrier was a crispy critter too when I started on it. The fire does not seem to hurt the steel parts, I blasted them and put them back in service. It was still a huge amount of work to build the HMMWV from junk.
Which is the keeper? Did you find the threads about putting 2 on a car hauler type trailer? When is your pickup deadline? What are you asking for the extra one?
I had a trailer mfgr put a deck and ramps on my van trailer chassis years ago. That was the worst $3K I ever spent. The deck is too high, and there is not much you can haul with it. Really spooky driving say a D3 Cat up onto it. Too short for a deuce. I just cut the bed back off after I...
There is a member in Pineville, "broke down", you may need to PM him as I have not seen him online lately. Can you post up some pics of the 105s and what $$ you are expecting?
I'm going to ask a question but please don't take it as criticism. Was there a reason you decided to fix your existing cab as opposed to going through the trouble of modifying a deuce or 5 ton cab to fit? The build is looking incredible.
Supposed to be spring loaded also. Spring must be messed up. The drum lock knob is the only difference that comes to mind. The drum lock is there to break your shear pin when you forget to unlock it before using the winch.
I did the lacquer thinner flush when I went from Dot 3 to Dot 5 on my M135. That was 27 years ago (1983) and I have not needed to work on the brakes since.
Welcome to the site. That picture shows one of the other design flaws of the 715, very limited suspension flex. Don't get me wrong, I love M715's, but a Unimog would have still had all 4 tires on the ground in this situation. Could you open the door?
