What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

My truck jelled up sat morning, stalled on route 9 from Peekskill to Ossining about five times till I limped it to a parts store. The one time I didn't treat the fuel, go figure! I added some 911, and was good to go.

    CDR bypass.

Thanks to all that replied, notably, doghead who's advice I would never question. Guess I'm replacing this mystery valve! Lol!

    CDR bypass.

After resealing the engine on my m1031, I decided to bypass the CDR valve as I figured it was the cause of a few oil leaks. I replaced the rear main seal, timing cover, and oil pan gaskets. On the Banks turbo setup, the CDR plumbing is routed back into the air filter box, and created a real...

    Wndshield Washer Performance?

Thanks Don, the pumps work far better than the original tank setup, and holds a full gallon of fluid. As you can see, I fabricated up an L bracket where the original tank was for my plow pump, so I had to figure out a way to relocate the tank. I had a parts s10 blazer which I took the bucket...

    Wndshield Washer Performance?

Don, Here's what I did to my truck. I installed a washer tank from a 2000 s10 blazer. It has two pumps. I plumed it so each of the nozzles are fed from one pump. It pours washer fluid over the windshield! Wire the pumps into the existing circuit on the wiper motor.

    Oil leaks

Hea guys, Thanks for the helpful input. The CDR valve is only three years old, so I never suspected it as the cause of the leaks, but now thanks to DriverSideImpact, Im thinking it probably is the cause. The C code Red Block was out of a wreck and sat at another friends junk yard shrink wrapped...

    Oil leaks

Hea guys, My Engine has some oil leaks that have gotten progressively worse in the past year or so, and I need some advice/opinions on the best way to deal with it. I have a friend that owns a shop, so I had him look over the leaks as I am working between 10 to 12 hours a day, 6 days a week. I...

    Rant plus starting issue

Any good towing outfit will have a variety of wreckers and flatbeds designed for the job at hand. If a company has nothing but polished up wheel lift wreckers and F 350 flatbeds with operators that have little or no recovery experience, they should be avoided. It is also the responsibility of...

    Np205 + 700r4

After fooling around with the 700 that came with my truck, an older unit that I had rebuilt, and blew up after less than a year, I bit the bullet and had Monster Transmissions build me a soup to nuts HD 700-R4. It shifts rather harsh from first to second, and very firm the rest of the way...

    700R4 and NP205?

I used a Monster transmissions B29-SD 1650 stall super duty converter, $290.03 when I ordered my trans. the impeller is brazed, not spot welded. My rebuilder used a cheap converter when he rebuilt the 700 that was already in the truck when I bought it. It came apart and destroyed the trans that...

    Dealing with a wreck

Wow Cliff. As stated, put the truck aside for now. It is very important to make sure you don't have any concussion symptoms. You may want to sleep more often, and slurred speech and short term memory loss are just a few symptoms. I have had a few, and after seeing what has happened to former NFL...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I replaced the radiator and upper/lower hoses on my M1031 over the weekend.

    Broken seatbelt bolts

Hea Cliff, see if you can get a stud remover on the bolts from underneath the truck, they should show enough thread to get the remover on them, and thread them down through the threaded blocks welded to the floor. I use MAP gas, the yellow bottle, on my Bernzomatic torch and PB blaster to loosen...

    Spewing trans fluid

Check the fluid cold and with the engine off. If it's over the full-hot line on the stick, it's way over full. That and a plugged vent line as Patracy said would lead to the oil expanding, and pumping out the stick tube.

    Need opinions on transmission choice

Sounds great. My friends kid has a trailer with an 8000# winch on it and does the same thing, hauling scrappers for some cash, and doing tows for friends. Makes some extra cash for his fuel drinking, tuned up 450 HP Duramax. Kids, LOL!

    Need opinions on transmission choice

I agree with Keith. An overdrive auto trans is not really practical in a wrecker, and you don't see too many of them with an auto trans at all. If you are going with a manual trans, a plain old on the cheap Munce SM465 will do, but converting the pedals and all that is a PITA. Keep the TH400...

recomended torque converters for a 6.2 turbo

That's really strange, there should be threaded holes, I think 3/8 NC or 10.5 MM to mount the cover. You can run without the cover, but if it's driven through the desert, the cover should be in place. Run the truck and determine weather the trans runs and shifts properly before you address the...

Did the 12 volt conversion. Made a funny video of the first start. Enjoy.

Good job on the conversion and the video. Give the man a cigar!

    M1009 Idle Noise

Hea Vin, I tightened The starter bolts when I heli-coiled them. I didn't use a torque wrench, but I know they were tight. Check the exhaust doughnut flange and other exhaust connections to make sure they are not rattling. Check the flexplate cover and the PS pump bracket, the brackets crack and...
