Just put my M1009 on ebay

 Adopted my niece, and now we have 4 kids. Couldn't all fit in it to go anywhere, which is the purpose of having it. Bought a Suburban so I can haul my family around. Don't have room for 5 vehicles either. I'm going to miss her. She's been good to me. :(

    Link to CUCV TM's (free!)

Since the old site is currently down, I thought you might all like a link to a bunch of TM's for the CUCV's. Not the military site (which freaks out some virus programs) but just a guy who put them all together. CUCV technical information

Can I put my transfer case in 4L without...

locking the front hubs? Sometimes on offroad hill climbs, I need a little more gear, but don't need 4WD. Can I move the TC to 4L without climbing out and locking the hubs? Will it break anything, or is it OK to do that?

    I can see clearly now!

Ended up taking a large rock to the windshield of my M1009 over the weekend. Spidered it pretty good. Called up the insurance co and had the glass guy come over and replace it today. What a difference! I didn't realize how clouded the old one (original, I think) was. It's like driving a new...

Successfully running waste oil as fuel!!

A friend of mine hooked me up with a 55gal drum of light hydraulic oil pulled out of a piece of mining equipment. It's clean and went straight from the hydraulic system into the drum. I'm using a lincoln air powered transfer pump to run it through 2 3 micron hydraulic filters. I was a little...

Belt routing. What am I doing wrong?

I'm in the middle of replacing the radiator, water pump, etc etc. I had to pull all the belts. I though I knew what I was doing, but something doesn't seem right. I put them back on just like in the TM (see attached pic) but it seems like the driver side alt belt is not aligned correctly. I...

    WMO in a CUCV

I recently found a source for free used WMO, light hydraulic oil, etc for free. I can do all the research on how to get it ready for use, but I'm looking for people who have done this in a CUCV with the 6.2l. I tried searching this forum, but didn't find much. Any suggestions on where to...

    Radiator replacement questions...

I'm taking my radiator in tomorrow to get rodded out or recored or whatever they want to do to it. It doesn't leak at all, just very crudded up on the inside. Pretty easy to get out, except for the dang upper transmission cooler line. That thing wouldn't break free. I tried a line wrench...

Is it time to start looking for a starter?

I ran to the store yesterday, everything was good to go. When I came out, I turned the key to crank, and nothing. I thought for sure my starter relay had gone out. I reached up under the dash and pulled it out. Banged it around a little, put it back in, nothing. There was a parts store just...

Did I see a fellow SteelSoldier today?

Was cruising around in North Phoenix and came up on an M1009, OD, Military Police stencils on the tailgate, proper antennas and all. Nice looking '09, if you're on here..

    What happened to my mileage?

****UPDATE PG 5*** 86 M1009, ~66k miles. When I picked this up last year, I was getting approximately 17 mpg on average. I lifted it 4" and put 33" tires on it about 6 months ago. At that point, I was getting ~18mpg, I guess due to lower RPM's required with the bigger tires. Over the...

Oh joy. Problems - Power steering pump and more!

Went to put new belts on yesterday, since I was starting to get a little squeal. Found out that I have some broken bolts on the PS bracket. Arrows at #6 in the image below point to the broken studs. It looks like if I pull all the brackets, I'll be able to get vise grips on them. If not...

Engine running hot, but heater not working?

**Update Page 3** 6/24/2010 M1009 - 65,XXX miles. The last couple times I've driven it on extended excursions (30 + miles), the coolant has tried to get hot. If I keep it around 55-60mph, the temp hangs out at ~195f. Above that and it starts rapidly climbing. I never continued testing to...

    Rear axle wheel bearing replacement

Completed today on my M1009. I was out last weekend scouting water holes for dove season coming up. When I got home, I noticed fluid on the inside of the right rear tire. I was sure it was a leaky wheel cylinder until I pulled the drum, and sure enough you could see it was leaking down from...

    Glow plug/card/relay problem?

Glow plug/card/relay problem UPDATE -ITS THE PLUGS!! I tried searching for this, but came up with nothing.. I can't quite figure out where the issue is, as everything seems to be working properly, but something isn't! I recently replaced my GP's. All get volts, and are in working order...

1 Weekend and 17 rattle cans...

Leaves you with a really sore fingertip... But the result is nice! The hood I'm not 100% happy with, may do that again. The paint was flashing a little too quick. Since it was in rattle cans, kinda hard to control the mix. Also didn't help that I was working outside. Overall though, 100%...

    Painting an M1009...

Gonna be painting my 09 this weekend. First, I have to say WOW to Rapcoparts.com. I ordered 2 cases of rattle cans on Wednesday afternoon. I received them (via UPS ground!) on Monday afternoon. Thats amazing! So, questions. I'm going with 686 tan, a desert storm scheme. The CARC on there...

    m1028 - "trailering" gone bad..

    gen 2 light intermittent on..

I looked at all the threads in search, and didn't find anything that really fits my issue, so I thought I'd ask the collective mind here and see what y'all think. I took my '09 on its first "big" trip. About 200 miles each way, with an overall elevation gain of ~10,000'. First, it ran GREAT...

    cold/fast idle sensor...

I was messing around under the hood and found that my cold and fast idle switch sensor was disconnected. I'm wondering if there is a certain direction the plug needs to be oriented? I can connect it either way - IOW, does it matter which color wire ends up going to which terminal on the...
