    starting problem on my m1009

The manuals are located under the resources section. look for TM 9-2320-289-10, -20, -20P, -34, -34P. The -10 is the basic operators manual, -20 is unit maintenace, -30 is direct support which means more in depth than the -20.

    starting problem on my m1009

Well, your truck is supposed to have a 24v starter- the civilian models all came with 12v. That is probably why you broke it. You can use the 12v if you rewire it accordingly. You need to look for any fuel leak around the filter and all of the hoses, even a small leak will make the truck hard...

    Long term storage

Just fill it up on fuel and disconnect the battery cables. If you have a solargizer (sp?) you can use that as well. When you get back change the engine oil after running it for a while.

    Trailer light adapter

Pin out: A, C, H - blackout tail lights and blackout clearance lights (all three pins are electrically connected together within vehicle's wiring harness) B - brake light and left turn signal light D - ground E - tail lights / clearance lights F - blackout brake light J - brake light...

    Trailer light adapter

I did get the pin out from the cucv that is available on the web, try this post as well: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/cucv/48713-trailer-plug-adapter.html But what I did was identify the ground wire and then tested each of the wires for 12V when the light swich was turned on, the brakes...

    Trailer light adapter

I made one, bought a military trailer wire/plug on ebay and attached the appropriate wires from the bundle to a flat four standard connector. Took about an hour to do it. I just used a volt meter to identify the needed wires. I have seen this commercially for sale for around $75 or more, but I...

new glow plugs, still hard to start?

Even though you hear the relay- you still need to verify with a meter.

    Weird engine noise

I hope its the cab mounts as well. You could try driving it with the hood off to see if you notice anything moving around.

    M1009 and locakable gas caps

Now that is funny, this truck hasn't been produced in about 25 years and you think that the spare parts that are military only are still produced! Good luck. I will you save you some trouble- the part number is in the TM and is 14063326. ABKV OUTSIDE DIAMETER 2.830 INCHES NOMINAL ABKW...

New plugs, still white smoke & no start

Most of these trucks still need glow plugs to work to start easily even in warm weather. It sounds to me like you are still having a glow plug issue based on your comment about the time that the light stays on. As a test, try using a jumper wire directly from your 12V battery + to the wire that...

    M1009 and locakable gas caps

The civilian model caps are way to small- the LMC one won't fit.

    M1009 and locakable gas caps

I am going to be adding a locking hasp on the fuel door, the kind you would find at the hardware store and put a padlock on it. This is very similar to what the military does on other vehicles. I have already had a cap stolen and don't want to lose another.

Hear ye! Hear ye! To all M1031 contact truck owners!!

It is used to maintain a specific RMP of the engine so that the generator provides 60 HZ output. I do not have one, but think of it as something like cruise control to maintain the engine speed. I would think that you could convert an aftermarket cruise control to do this, one that does not...

    M1008 Speedometer recalibration

I believe all you really need to do is change the driven gear in the t-case (the one that connects to the speedometer cable). Look here, there is also a calculator to choose the correct gear tooth count. Speedometer Gear, Speedometer Gears, Ford, GM, Dodge 700R4

    taking off cylinder head necessary

Since you could not find any evidence of it, I would just forget about it for a while. Drive the vehicle for a while and then check again, maybe it is logged somewhere and will break free? If it is not there it probably has disintegrated.

    Cracked np 208

I have the adapter from a cucv that I would sell for $30? I would not be able meet until Thursday evening though. And, if you decide that you need a TranferCase I will make you a good deal on that.

    Tow Bar Loan

I used a U-Haul tow dolly, but I would never do that again. The truck (M1009) was too big for the dolly, the front wheels were hanging over the sides of the dolly. I recommend building yourself a tow bar.

    alternator problem

Bad light bulb in the dash? Does the bulb turn on?

    speedo woes

You can swap out the speedo from a civy instrument cluster. The civy cluster can not be just swapped directly, it would require swapping somethings around, if you get one you will see what I mean.

    Do I need a 12v or 24 alternator

Yes, 12v alternator. Only M1010 used 24v alternator - I think I already posted this in this thread?
