Pull up the big lever that is a little under the seat, if you have a winch you maybe moving the PTO lever. It should come all the way up to the seat.

Not a good idea for off roading having it on the back. If your truck has ten tires then I think one spare should do it. You can use one off the rear axles if you need to. Just my 2 cent.

I have a number of trucks that the fan turns a little when the truck it on, I think it is that the clutch just has a little drag in it. When your up the speed you can tell when the fan turns on. At idle it does sound like a can of rocks sometime.
