    Winch Teardown Q

After seeing the water I had to open the brake box on the other winch. No water in that one but a LOT of rust and grime. I have an e-mail in to George at White Owl to see if he carries those brake bands. If not does anyone else have them? Also, I see a wide range of prices for the 6309 worm...

    Winch Teardown Q

Cracked open the brake case assembly on winch #2 and found...WATER! A couple cups of it came pouring out. Then sludge, oil, and sandy grit. Fun, fun! Hopefully the other winch won't have that problem, but both of them have leaking seals everywhere and will all be replaced.

    Winch Help

I'm still waiting for that coup-de-grace party to come together to finish this thing off. Won't be too long I imagine.

    Winch Help

It mounts to the side of the master brake cylinder. I'll see if I can find a pic, it IS in a TM, I'm just not sure which one. It's in TM9-2320-361-20 pg 1001 (or 13-35)

Another source for the new multifuel head gaskets

The banner graphic at the top of their page is cool. If it matches a real city skyline then it's even cooler.

    Trip Preparation

Yeah, this is the big question. If you're getting a truck that's already a known quantity you have a fighting chance. A GL recovery of 1,000 miles? My list would start with a compressor and a generator and then fill the chase truck bed around those.

    New soft top missing hardware

Yep that's where mine came from. Got a tan cargo cover too, still in the box.

    New soft top missing hardware

Sorry it took me so long. Here are pics showing the sewn-in rope on the front and side seams. I'm not going to install this until springtime.

    cutting fuel lines

Had to share this pic, I was pretty amazed at how SMALL the opening is in these fuel lines. If I had known that I would have never worried about cutting them. Not much room for debris to move down those!

    Winch Teardown Q

OK this is looking ahead a little, but let's talk about the orientation of the automatic brake case assembly on the right-hand end of the winch. My two winches have them oriented differently. One has the adjusting screw on the bottom, and the other one has it on the right side. I figured one of...

Fuel leak, over top of turbo, what is it?

I've been pounding it on a block of wood so I don't think I've harmed the body, but I'll try that! Thanks. EDIT: tried it, still no dice! I think somebody used some kind of super-epoxy on the ass end of this nozzle (it's off my parts truck, it probably doesn't even leak I just thought I'd try...

I still haven't been able to get mine apart.

    GL music

So the music they play in GL videos, when the talking is over? Reminds me of this song: Maybe now it will do the same for you.

    Winch Teardown Q

No, it's the other end, the interior end, that is badly bent sideways.

    Winch Teardown Q

A separate issue: on this 2nd winch I also had failure of the "pipe screw" that guards the set screw that holds the shift shaft in place. I had to drill it out to get the set screw out. Now I'm thinking I'll over-size the hole and tap it for a new, larger outer screw to hide the set screw. I...
