    Interesting aluminum rim?

Got these rims today and don't know what their for. They are not normal mrap rims, the stud hole have tapers for centering on the nuts, and not centered on the hub like a normal mrap. One of the stud holes is larger in diameter and is drilled to the ctis valve. Hole diameter is the same as a...

M1084A0 Crane - Wire Rope Specifications

What's the working load limit for the crane, use wire that matches. Unless it's a grooved drum. Then depending on what side the wire attaches to and drum rotation depends on if you require right lay or left lay wire rope.

    Relocate batteries and air tanks?

Just make the batteries easy accessible. They are heavy!!! I'm thinking of building a larger fuel tank for mine. But that's a ways down the road a bit.

    Locker install

So today brought some much needed sunshine, with that I was able to disconnect the rear drive shaft from the differential and I drained the gear lube. So a couple things to keep in mind when doing this. Gear lube drains out faster than an oil catch pan drains, and its over 4 gallons. I...

    Locker install

Ok everyone I dug back into it. Started over. First I reset the bearing preload. I did this by loosing the caps more so on the ring side. Then set up the dial indicator on the ring, while using two pry bars to wiggle the ring back and fourth. I adjusted the pinion side cap in until there...

    Locker owner opinions?

My fingers are crossed that it's worth the cost. I have gone as far as thinking of swapping axles. I have property where a locker may be required to get access to, due to the condition of the road and steep terrain. This years rains however the road may no longer exist. As soon as a cabin...

    Locker owner opinions?

It's one of the reasons I started the install thread, there wasn't one for me to read. Hopefully my install thread will help others, and I plan on a lengthy write up on the performance with both pro's and cons of the setup.

    Locker owner opinions?

My truck doesn't fit in my garage, and we have had only a couple rain free days this year. These are new, expensive and a pain to install. Very few have them in hand. So in the lmtv world they are as rare as hens teeth. This time last year they didn't exist. Or you could read how they...

    Locker install

Setting the gear lash took way longer than expected. FYI check the gear lash in a lot of areas and when setting the left right of the ring gear mark and use the same spots. What I found is that around the diameter of the ring lash varies from .010 to .018. Meritor new spec is .012 to .020 on...

    Locker owner opinions?

There will be a considerable amount of machine work to make the ARB likely have to start 8"+ diameter steel billet, basically a whole new ring carrier and modify the housing for an air line. It would be awesome, and the best option but will be the most expensive.

    Locker owner opinions?

The no spin has been has been used on heavy duty trucks forever. Very common in the dump truck world as well. They used to be known for a harsh lockup, but new spring style and a change to the locking teeth interface they are now softer in lock up. I hope to have mine in the truck this...

    Locker install

of course I have the second chunk, lol. I actually had the gears before I had the truck. I'm setting the lash myself, using a meritor guide. Looking a the lite wear on the ring the pinion depth is good, now just to left right and preload

    Locker install

its always on on until one wheel speeds up in a corner and it releases. Wish it was an arb but.. beggars can't be choosers. Only installing one in the rear. I'll post more photos of the gear lash set up. Ran out of time tonight.

    Locker install

    Locker install

I picked up a locker for the rear of my truck from Bryce. Found a meritor center section takeapart and put back together manual online. Not for our axles but similar construction. Have it installed and put back together, now just need to finish setting the lash.

Seriously looking at lmtv need input please

I was wondering if it was a three color or just OD and painted. How much smoke and how steep of a hill? Our trucks are a bit low on power, she may just be working a bit to get up the hill. I am am willing to bet your oil leak is coming from behind the air compressor area. It's a common...

A/c idler pully and tensioner question

The PS Mag for the charge weight is 2015 issue 751 pages 44-45 here is a link to the issue http://psmag.radionerds.com/index.php/751 since I'm already adding sound insulation, I guess it's a good time to add some thermal as well. That giant window doesn't help things.

A/c idler pully and tensioner question

Thanks for the info, I was starting to think a semi custom route was my future. I did find the PS article saying our trucks need 3.75 pounds of r134. My last components are the belt idler, and hoses. As I don't think the red dot protecht is required for operations, just diagnostics. Oh I...
