I can't help on the ID, but would say it is certainly in order to do a compression check while you already have the injector out at least on that one cylinder before investing money into it.

Tim292stro, I think you may have spent too much time on the left coast, while electrical inspectors are getting more common throughout the U.S. there are still many areas where there is no code enforcement. In Louisiana where I live it is still very spotty outside of the city limits, and I...
I have to ask are you aware that the full rated load fuel consumption on a MEP-003a is around 1 gallon per hour, 10KW is really a lot of sustained load for an off grid house.
They are muffled, but much of the noise is not from the exhaust (more of a roar not a sharp bark), noise level is on par with commercial lawn mower, but is at a calmer less screaming 1800 rpm engine speed.
Sorry yes, I think you are correct, in my original post I was speaking conceptually from the common household wiring concept on wire counts, not on specifics of the connection.

p.s.
To follow up on this in 120/240 single phase mode on the generator the wires would need to go like this...
You need to run 4 that is FOUR wires from the generator to the breaker box L1, L2 (the two hots) L0 (the neutral) and a ground wire, you also need to drive a ground rod at the generator and make sure L0 and frame ground are bonded (usually already done by a ground bond jumper on the back side...
I also think you need to get some help on this, these things can kill you if not done right. As to the wire size you will want a minimum of 4 conductors of #6 wire for the MEP-003a in 120/240 single phase mode. You may possibly need #4 wire if the generator is more than 100 feet from your...
As to chances, think of this like any other trailer that has been sitting up for a while, the 3 big things I am always on the look out for on trailers that have sat around are wheel bearings, tires and brakes (sticking mostly). Another topic here is what sort of tow vehicle do you have?
Yes, but MEP-002a's do tend to WALK while running, at least mine does, in fact just last weekend while doing a test run it walked into and then shattered a wood pallet.
Congrats, looks like it may be a good one, and price was not insanely high for a trailer mounted generator. If you don't need the trailer you can likely sell it for $500 or so.

I saw this thread earlier today, and planned to take a look at what I have done on my MEP-701a again this afternoon before replying, but got caught up in installing new batteries on my MEP-002a and swapping out its AVR board, and by the time I was done the sun was going down. Weather permitting...
I love having access to fork lifts and front end loaders, I am about to go put new batteries in my MEP-002a which is wedged behind my MEP-003a in a shed at the family farm at the moment. With luck it will be a 5 minute job to pick up with MEP-003a and move it 20 feet or so out of the way.
All that stuff may not be needed to get a good running standby MEP-002a, I bought one off GL a couple of years ago for about $450, it is an ugly duckling with brushed on cammo CARC, but from a mechanical point of view was in great shape. It appears it was a non-runner fresh from a major...
