The screen filter in the pump is only there to stop debris from going into the injectors if there were to be a pump failure. The flow is backward, it filters from the inside out and there is a magnet in there to pick up broken pump parts. Looking at it will do no good. If the engine runs, the...
IIRC, the shroud clips to the radiator at the bottom. You can take the shroud bolts out at the top, pull the shroud up a 1/2 inch then slide the radiator up and out. It's been a bit since I worked on a GM truck of that era, I think that's how it went.

Never seen one fail like that. The gaskets on the NHC aren't like the deuce or a gasser. The liner is sealed from the coolant and oil passages. Cut the filter open and see what you find.
Ron, I think 2 BB chevy's wouldn't fit. We have an M5 at the Museum with 2 SB chevy's and a pair of TH350's and that is WAY tight. I agree the 6.2, even turboed, will lack the power needed to turn it.
It is cool to see old iron come back to life though :jumpin:

If you don't do it right, it will be hard starting, it'll smoke too. If you took the shims off, measure the old ones and put the cam followers back in the same position the came from.
They can be privately owned, the Museum has 2 of them. It takes a 9 axle trailer to move them over the road and a permit . Not only is that a bank roll to do but they don't get very good mileage! They are fun to drive though
Silverstate, yup, I knew that. IIRC the M901 uses the same "environmentally and human friendly" fluid in it's system too.
Brian, come on out anytime, we need a starter changed it the other M60. You can reach the stupid thing but can't get to it thru the hatches in the bottom, guess the power...
