Well, the exhaust manifold is divided, so you can install one thermocouple in each and display the two readings on one gauge (center gauge in image below). This arrangement provides a reference in case one cylinder is misbehaving...
The fuel delivery threaded rod (Stop Plate adjustment) is a good indicator of amount of fuel made available to the IP.
With FDC in the circuit: About 0.3 inches showing
Wit FDC bypassed: About 0.2 inches showing
I'm still collecting data on this, so any new input is welcome....
What if all cylinders were over-fueled and this one simply the first one to give?
The amount of fuel fed to each cylinder is metered by the IP and should be the same for all. Yes there is an overflow line, but the amount returned to the fuel tank from the injectors is only a small fraction as I...
Some NDCCs were actually of radial construction....Uniroyal made one for the m656/xm757 series designed to run as low as 10 psi. The bias plies seem to hold up better, though, with the only radial on the truck loosing its thread during the 1,000 mile tow from OK.
Note: The marking does not...
Any further details on this, I assume it has to do with improving traction?
"....the concrete blocks on the superstructure you can remove, these blocks are ballast during operation with heavy trailor."
Okay Ron, but it did help my deuce a lot, about 7-8 ft on the curb-curb turning circle...higher tire pressure helps a bit....of course, with the wrecker crane there is a lot of traction back there making it want to go straight.
Perhaps ten years ago, I separated the brake lines to the rear, so...
Interesting discussion....
FWIW, the tires for the m656/xm757 trucks were designed to run in sand, mud and snow fully loaded (5 tons) with 10 psi. Image below shows the right front tire at 10 psi and as loaded as it gets. It's bias ply construction and shows very little bulge.
Thanks for the leads guys, there is a difference between 16.00R20 and the the "16-20" that I need. They are actually 16/70-20, which is a low aspect ratio NDCC.
Ron, I visited Jim Henry's last year and he only had a couple of steel wheels for the 8x8, which I got. He did suggest Joe Naglich...
I have this lead to NOS tires, does anybody know this place (Utah)?
".........
I believe the place was called Sweeds or something roughly similar out in Tooele. Red Tomlin may know who I'm talking about if they're still there. They were just north of his place. They had parts and pieces for...
The tires for the xm757 8x8 have been a sensitive subject for me since day one, they are old, some are worn, torn and the sizes and tread patterns are not even identical, but they were specifically designed for this series of vehicles and are low profile, low pressure, tubeless, military NDCC...
