You dont need to steer to guide it back on neatly. If you have a small load it will move its self from side to side. When I wanted to spool the cable on my deuce nice and neat I just hooked it to my Jeep (straight out in front of the truck), pulled the parking brake on the Jeep and drug it in...
I Really wanted to go check this out. We (my family and my brother and sister-in-law) drove right by there friday on the way to the Kennedy Space Center. Spent spring break at Disney World and friday at Kennedy and the beach. Just wasnt in the time budget though.
I dont know if they have anything like the REB kit that removes and replaces the sprag. But on the 809 5tons you can put a valve in the airline to the transmission and basically "shut off" the sprag. By shutting off the air it lets the sprag clutch remain in neutral.
:ditto: I have run into some guys that wrongly assumed it would be easier and faster to just remove the inner thimble and leave the dual wheels bolted together and remove them as one unit.
So what if the title doesnt really fit. You all know you still would have watched it even if it was titled "M923 going in circles."
I like watching these trucks articulate on berms like that. You'd never see anyone in a Freightliner tractor doing stuff like this for fun.
Not to mention that if you break an axle, you have no brakes what-so-ever.
steve6x6. (Think that's his user name) builds disc brake setups for rock wellsrock wells
I don't know your price range but I have a medium tow bar and all the adapters for cucv, deuce and 5tons, that would be 3/4" , 1" feet and the axle clamps with dual chains for $500 over here in Kansas.
Wouldn't that be exporting? You may want to check into the legalities of that before you sell it.
*edit* before anyone jumps me, he did not state what type of 6x6 it was nor wether he did an EUC for it. Also just because it does not have an EUC does not mean its free game to sell outside the...
He didnt say it was "Locked" in. He said it is 6x6 in all gears, not just first or reverse.
The t-case is never locked in 6x6 in any gear. It is 6x6 when the rears slip in any gear
You feel it in mud and sand because those two conditions are the perfect place where the rears are going to...
The style for the singles does not rotate. However I believe you could sleeve the inner bottom at the flange and slide the upper over it and make it rotate. Make sure to use a stout enough piece for it. I think Gimpy modded one to rotate that way. The davit off the trucks with 14.00 singles is...
But it is NOT locked in in first or reverse. It only moves the sprag clutch from forward to reverse and that is the part that "senses" the rears slipping and engages the front driveshaft. The front axle will only pull when the rears slip.
Are you sure about that?
The deuce sprag case is not air opperated like the 5ton. The sprag case has no way of knowing what gear the trans is in in a deuce.
For the OP. If you want the air shift front axle you need an airshift t-case and the switch and assoc. airlines plumbed in.
There...
Do you have a pic of what your wanting? I have never seen steps behind the bumper but I have seen the swing down type step on the 5ton truck bumpers. Is that what your looking for?
I saw this one just the other day on another forum.
What ever the lenght of cable or strap you have out everyone needs to be outside that radius. (theses guys obviously dont get that concept)
