Typically a CV or Constant Velocity joint is a ball and cage arrangement with a boot. A Double Cardan joint is a two U-joint arrangement with a center ball pivot. A Double Cardan will take a lot more torque and is available in much larger sizes and configurations than a typical CV joint. Plus...
Yeah it varied wildly so I just followed what I found in the manuals. If I remember right, my '74 models (W100 and W200) were supposed to be at the axle, but the '84 Ramcharger and my '88 W150 were all up top. I doubt it makes a lot of difference, but who knows?
Nice find on the Spicer PDF...
Ok, the post about looking for a nice M1009 sort of prompted me to do this. If it's not in the right place or is out of line for some reason. It is MV related, read below.
Here's my plan, I want an Dodge Ramcharger version of an M1009 with a few options. So what I am looking for is a decent...
Older Dodges all have the slip near the transfer case on the rear but the fronts have it at the axle. The only thing I was told was it was to keep water from collecting in the slip yoke on the rear. The front has to be at the axle because of the Double Cardan joint at the transfer case. If it...
It sounds as if one of you is speaking of the internal threads of the stem where the Schrader valve goes and the other is speaking of the outer threads like where the cap would go on a normal valve stem...
I can't understand why you wouldn't torque the lug nuts down on both the adaptor and wheel, especially on such a risky set up. And at $139 a piece, I think you could have just gotten the wheels re-centered. Also, I am unaware of any factor vehicle with a lug adaptor on it, but I would be...
I thought the same. The first few pics look really weird, like a model. It wasn't until I saw the jackstand that I realized it was real, lol. Nice truck!
RE: canvas
A few of the guys at The M715 Zone have bought stuff from Mona and have been pleased with what they purchased. The quality is there and seems to not have changed with the change of ownership and from what I gather the new owner is great to deal with and will work with you if you...
RE: Re: RE: New owner of MT250 crane
Somehow I knew that was coming, lol. Ah but that's a really big crane. Can you even move that on public highways without a special permit? I know the local crane outfit here has to jump though all sort of hoops to move any of their cranes that are that...
RE: Re: RE: got a expandable van(292A2)
I remember you posting those pics of the white truck for me when I first came to SS, Kenny. I was drooling over the one on eBay and I'm glad a member got it. I will have some sort of expansible van truck before I die, lol. I've been drooling over that...
Yeah, they are divorced case models like the two '74 models I had, but they were both 4 speeds also. All the really short shaft autos I have seen, I think had a yoke on the shaft. I might be wrong on that, I haven't seen but one or two out of a vehicle. I also remember a 2WD 4 door D200 that...
74 and earlier 4x4s and oddly enough, some aircraft tugs have the shortest tailshaft of any I have seen but I can't remember if they are 727s or 904s. I want to say they were all 727s. It will be attached to a slant 6, but the internals should swap to a big block housing. I want to say that...
