The simple solution may be GROUNDS. Bjorn made a believer of me. I replaced every star washer on the lights from front to rear with internal/external star washers from Grainger. I cleaned the surfaces and replaced every rusty bolt. Front to rear on the lights. They work fine now. I...
I am picking up a M35A2C on Wednesday at Hooks, TX.
It is missing the air cleaner container bottom part that holds the filter. The top mount is complete and present.
Does anyone have one to spare?
The one thing Bjorn does not tell you is patience. You learn to be a detective of shorts, grounds and such by patiently checking the circuits.
Follow the wiring diagrams, use the MultiMeter and good luck.
Your posts on electrical glitches and fixes are wonderful.
My latest deuce was loaded with them. I started with an amputated trailer socket. Then worked over the lights, bad light switch. Turn signals were defective grounds. I actually got the the last bolt, in frustration, before they...
I doubt Sarah will last past next week.
And, on every board where that pic has been posted, the initial reaction has been excitement. I point out that the pic shows dancer/hooker platforms which would be unusual for a candidate. When that is noted, the claims are it is photoshopped. I do not...
I was at hooks looking at my latest M35a2C a week or so ago.
I saw a world of HMMWV tires for auction. Many appeared virtually new and had 12 bolt rims.
If you need the tires and rims, they are there in abundance.
RE: what r duece worth now (newbie)
$1500 at GL seems a reasonable figure now. Perhaps a bit high.
They all need work. I got a w/w at Norman that needed some body work, some electrical work and such. I paid about $1200.
If you can drive it away from GL, you are doing OK. If not, bring a...
I am no genius about the wiring of the M35 but Bjorn got me into this stuff.
It kind of beats practicing law, anyway.
My new M35 has wiring issues. I fixed the grounds, rewired the trailer pig tail, changed the light switch and all that.
I got to working on the horn, fixed the button and...
I have found having a 20 ton hydraulic jack and a large rubber mallet quite handy.
I got the jack at Northern Tool for $20 and the mallet for $5.
I have been placing the jack between the front tire and the front of the fender with a small piece of 2x4 on the piston. This will straighten a...
A year or so ago I bought a sack full of new military wire with connectors attached. They varied by length and some had dual connectors. All of it new and all of it kind of like stray cats, just there.
It was 14 gauge black rubber covered, just as all M35's have.
I had also purchased from...
OK, got it done. I had to grease the wire, insert from the bottom and it worked. I attached the new horn button. No horn, yet. Tomorrows project in waiting.
Last year we pulled a guy off the top of an F250 in a flood. The water debris on the radiator was at about five feet. We did not have the plug or any other device in operation at the time.
We did not seem to have any damage afterward. I do not recommend this for every day work, however.
OK, coming in from the bottom I am about six inches from the top. I can see the end of the wire. I need to figure a way to grab it, if possible. It seems to have stopped. I will turn the wire at the bottom to see if that helps.
I have retired for a couple of more beers to clear my mind. :)
Life becomes much clearer with a beer or two. Having cooled off and thought about it, you are correct. I was just going out to bang on the thing again, from the bottom.
