Congrats on your new truck Josh and welcome to SS. Looks like a real nice 109. It's great that you planned for the worst and that you didn't need anything for it. Too many times I have read stories of when it was the other way around. Keep us posted!

I have read quite a few posts lately dealing with tires falling apart etc... while drving down the road. This can sometimes create a dangerous situation for the driver or for anyone following behind the truck. Here's an exerpt from a Military Tire Manual on how to determine the age of your...
Wow, that thing is pretty cool. I need an exhaust stack like that on my truck. That way I would just blow soot on myself :D
I'm gonna have to search around to see if this thing still exists in some way or fashion.
Hey Uboat. Do you mean that you put a new engine in it after it was submerged? What is the status of the rest of the drivetrain and the electronics? Did you flush all fluids? Is it up running and driving now? Can you give us a little more info on its current condition? Thanks.

All of my Craftsman tools have Made in USA stamped on them. I watched a show with the guy from Cheers, "Made in America." He visited on of the Craftsman tool factories in the US. Outstanding episode if you can catch it on re-run. Gives you an idea of what goes into each socket, etc... in...
Sorry David, I'm a doofus, I meant to say the 925 cargo trucks. Sorry for the confusion. I drove by my local ARNG unit today. They have some really clean looking M925's, the original, not the A2's. They look to have some sort of commercial type tire on them too. Didn't want to snoop too...
I wondered that myself. I know the HMMWV's have updated control modules to "save" the plugs, but I am not familiar with anything like that for the CUCV. I thought too that with the AC60G plugs that overburn wasn't an issue.
I read that article too. I think a lot of the problems with the NDCC tires on the new 915 5-tons etc... has to do with top-speed, air brakes, and unsafe following distances. It seems that quite a few of the fatal accidents in the 915's stemmed from drivers following too close, convoy slowing...
Here's what they do: http://www.alfaheaven.com/Military%20Section/WhyBuy.html It ain't brand new, but it sounds like a pretty thorough going over. Sound kinda like buying a "dealer certified previously owned vehicle" without the 3 year warranty.
Hey Greg,
TNJ Murray has the kits too. Here's a pic of the whole kit to give you an idea of what it looks like: http://www.tnjmurray.com/forsale_photos/M35%20convoy%20light%20kit.jpg $200
They certainly do look nice, but I could never convince myself to give that kinda cash for a M1009. Then again, I am a very hands on guy and like to do a lot of stuff myself. If someone had big wads of dough laying around, then it might not be a bad investment.
