Before you go replacing electronic boxes which are very expensive, pull your starter switch out and make sure its working. The start switch also controls the electric fuel shut off solenoid which could also be a problem. You might have multiple issues. First pull the starter switch and check it...
Tm's for the 9 series trucks are awful. Make sure all the leads are clean. You mentioned that you tried to start using a jumper directly on the starter ? I imagine its cold in michigan because its been cold here in missouri. Try taking a hammer and tapping on the starter and solenoid, don't...
Glad you got it taken care of. I'm still going to put some air tool oil in my emergency glad hand and manually service the air system to keep a little lube in the system. I've been driving my truck and it seems the more I drive it the better is works ! I've oiled it twice in the last month since...
Power steering seems to be the big difference in favor of the 5 ton. I added air o matic steering to my deuce and it made a huge difference in driving ease. I got lucky and got a used air o system for $700. Now its a toss up between the two. With 395's on my deuce its actually faster than my...
Check with the part supply places, they might have rebuild kits. A local tractor repair place should be able to do the work. I'll bet a new one is expensive.
I was having issues on my 932. I decided to just replace the 3 lever switch. Glad I did. When I tore the old one apart is was heavily rusted. Not worth trying to salvage.
Don't get me wrong, I really like my M932A1. I just got all the bugs worked out except 3 leaky tires. But there has got to be times when you wish ........
Anyway, I hate my 5 ton when; I pull up to the diesel pump. After driving my Deuce around for a year and getting 9-10 mpg, this 5...
Sounds like your switch is going bad. You can pull it and take a small punch and put it into the switch and see if it moves easily. I've had to replace my brake switch for the exact same reason. My connection on the back of my 3 lever light switch was also loose causing an intermittent problem.
I put 25 gallons in my M932 in the right tank. $90, shows a half tank and I still had an empty left tank !
I figure it will cost me around $360 to fill it up....... OUCH !!
I just bought 2 of the 24v battery tenders and will install them tomorrow (in my deuce and 5 ton). The 12v versions have worked great. I have two motorcycles that have used them since day 1 and the batteries are now over 7 years old and work great !
These instruments are grounded to the back of the instrument panel. It might be a simple grounding issue. If the gauge is a plastic type the mount is the ground. If its the older metal type the gauge itself is the ground.
Just about everything you mention is covered in the forums so use the search function to help with questions. The TM's (technical manuals) are also available for download on the site so take advantage of those. They will also answer many questions and increase your familiarity with the truck...
Dextron III. I've started on my first change. Waiting to put a few more miles on it before I do another change to try and get rid of as much oil as possible.
After the first change I notice smoother shifting both up and down. The second change should make it even better.
I assume you are...
