Leaking axle... and not the good kind

I vote vent clogged gear oil went through seals and took the grease out of the bearings. Good link: http://www.xm381.com/xm381/How_To/Pages/Hub_Flip.html

    Front axle boot repair

Not really of the zipper boot. In that last one you can see the inner and outer grove that need to be cleaned. Here is a picture of the front axle on jacks. You can see the guards that need to be removed. If this is your first time I would pull the hub. Picture of that to

    Front axle boot repair

Did it last week again after my silicon boot failed. Cleaner the groves easier it is. When I put the boot on I have the clamp a little tight, then work the rubber under the clamp with a flat head screw driver. That's my one man axle boot secret.

    Front axle boot repair

If your doing zippered, take the wheel off, guard plate off, cut the old boot, put the boot on, clamp, guard plate on, tire on, and your done.

Leaking axle... and not the good kind

pretty straight foward fix. Pull the hubs replaces the seals, new cork, pack the bearing, and put it all back together. Hardest part is taking off the wheels and putting them back on. No stupid boot like the front, I hate that boot design.

    Steering box finaly gave out

I would jack up the front axle, then break the lock nut on the steering box, and adjust the set screw. It's tight if you a winch. I push the wheels back and forth till it feels smooth. Not a very good pic of the steering box but it's on the side below the injector pump.

How hard to reseal/boot front axle??

I got so pissed off with my yellow silicon boot yesterday I took the box cutter to it. I'm done with solid boots. What a pita these boots are.

How hard to reseal/boot front axle??

There a lot of important stuff in the hub then just the boot. I say pull the pack the bearings, replace the seals, inspect the brake, clean the kingpins.....etc PCMS Just saying

    Oil Leak from exhaust

Got the 1/8" tube in and ran the truck. A couple small leaks fixed and she is solid. Now coming the fun part line from the injector pump to the flame heater pump. It's 3/8" and I got it off with out removing anything. Love my gear wrenches. I hope the reinstall goes smooth. Also, truck start...
