Decided I am going to start working on the deuce when I have spare time. Between work and family have not gotten much done.
So today new wiper upgrade.
I vote vent clogged gear oil went through seals and took the grease out of the bearings.

Not really of the zipper boot. In that last one you can see the inner and outer grove that need to be cleaned. Here is a picture of the front axle on jacks. You can see the guards that need to be removed.
If this is your first time I would pull the hub. Picture of that to
Did it last week again after my silicon boot failed. Cleaner the groves easier it is.
When I put the boot on I have the clamp a little tight, then work the rubber under the clamp with a flat head screw driver. That's my one man axle boot secret.
pretty straight foward fix. Pull the hubs replaces the seals, new cork, pack the bearing, and put it all back together. Hardest part is taking off the wheels and putting them back on.
No stupid boot like the front, I hate that boot design.
I am thinking of cuting my stack flat horizontally and adding a rain flap. I saw one at the tractor supply store in canton. This would make it "simple stupid".
I would jack up the front axle, then break the lock nut on the steering box, and adjust the set screw. It's tight if you a winch. I push the wheels back and forth till it feels smooth.
Not a very good pic of the steering box but it's on the side below the injector pump.
There a lot of important stuff in the hub then just the boot. I say pull the pack the bearings, replace the seals, inspect the brake, clean the kingpins.....etc PCMS
Just saying
Got the 1/8" tube in and ran the truck. A couple small leaks fixed and she is solid.
Now coming the fun part line from the injector pump to the flame heater pump. It's 3/8" and I got it off with out removing anything. Love my gear wrenches. I hope the reinstall goes smooth.
Also, truck start...
