Your truck. You do what you want to it. As long as you dont lower it and put hydraulics on it that is....... Other than that I say go for it. In todays age with 75MPH and 85MPH highway speeds VS the old Nation wide 55MPH we need an OD. That will be my next "upgrade".
The bushings are pretty easy to get out AFTER you remove the metal inner sleeve. Why you are at it get the Off Road Designs (ORD) greasable bushings and bolts. The upgraded front spring hanger is worth it as well. You can also get new springs. I like the EZ ride HD springs. Very Nice and...
A backup camera is a must for any vehicle with a big blind spot. Since I lifted my M1028 I have become more concerned with this. I found a $100 dollar back up kit at Autozone. It mounts to the rear license plate. Since my plate is on the driver side of the rear bumper I think i will come up with...
It looks like a regular Mil Spec M101A1 with the bed removed and a M1031 Contract truck rear bed put on. Its a very sweet trailer. Thjere is a bit about it on a related thread. I think its titled M1010 ready for Alaska Trip. I will look and see if I can find it.
I towed my 3,000 lbs gen trailer back from LA and got about 13.5 MPG. I dont see you pulling a heavier trailer unless you have a Turbo. Then I would limit it to 5,000 lbs or so.
I really wanted to ask them a bunch of questions and crawl around the rig. 4L80E and 3.73 gears are just about perfect! But I knew they had a long day driving and were ready to grab some grub. Maybe when I get down into Florida in about 18 months with work I can come over and take a look? Oh...
WELL look who I spotted today when I puilled into the hotel parking lot! Talk about a suprise. Long day working with a long drive back into Fargo ND and this just sitting there! Nice way to end a day of work.
The bad thing is that I removed the cotter pin and put a pull out pin on for quick release for when I needed to pull someone out. The back shackles I left the cotter pins in. When I find a new one I will cotter pin them or get a small nut and bolt. Since I always carry a tool kit pulling them...
If your going to be driving her on the street much then a limited slip option would be your best option. Not sure if I would want a locker on the front during the winter time on icey roads. Mine has I believe a Trac Loc which if that is indeed what it is then it works great off and on the...
For me a turboed as in Banks Turbo (used) in a CUCV is all good. But its not going to make it into the do all tow all rig. No way no how. There a great truck. The engine is a good engine. NOT as good as a CUMMINS, but none the less a good engine.
