update: this crane looks like it has some outrigger points fabbed up on the frame between front axle and forward tandem, also looks like it has the left shaft pulled on the front tandem. the shaft could be lying 5 feet away, or it could be permanently MIA. On the back of the crane is a faded...
well, the guy that has it has retained it mostly intact, the front cab is kinda trashed though. He said the front winch was torched off last month, but is still lying around. If anyone wants more pics etc let me know.
I found an old crane that the guy says I can rip the wheels off of for my duece, the tires on it right now are 14x20's. Says insley on the back, but couldn't find anything comparable on a web search.
if 2nd gear is the culprit, and there is no nuetral, then getting towed to the next exit would have been done with...the clutch depressed? the T-case in nuetral?
I know some ignorant people who would probably tow it up to speed, pop the clutch and see if they can get the engine to "break...
all good replies...I like PB and Paulfarber's approaches: here's what I've identified as being wrong, here's what I've personally fixed. I can see the liability of a training course, but the benefits of a check ride before the purchase allows a seller to know that a green buyer isn't going to...
kaiserjeeps, I noticed in your pic that the duece is CHOCKED when your shower is setup. Not a bad idea at all. Of course if the truck was pointed downhill and the chocks were removed during shower operation...
Maybe you should install an emergency handle, triangle shaped, to hang from the...
A recent comment by Porkysplace about a person who knows nothing about military vehicles travelling 500 miles to pickup a vehicle of unknown condition from a flipper got me thinking...
As owners, friends of owners and fans of military vehicles, do we hold ourselves to a higher standard of...
dang it, mark, now I've got another place I've got to go check out when I'm in Boise...looks like you've got a more sizeable operation than the other store I go to when I'm in town (Armageddon in Nampa)
also, it's good to START A TURN before you stop. I.e. approach a stop sign, slow down, crank the wheel, and then stop. Turning the front tires of a stopped duece, even with stock tires, can easily wear you out. You don't have to turn the wheels all the way before you stop, but getting started...
anything special done with the wheels? like scrap together 2 stock, split-ring wheels and make a super single?
What about the upgrade on the brake lines?
I've read that when building the M35a3, 3 M35a2's would be used to build 2 A3's. Use 3 trucks to build 2. I've searched, but haven't found explanations on what specifically was used, what was tossed, etc.
Can anyone explain how to cannibalize a bunch of M35A2's and make some A3's?
If this has...
