this seems to be normal, I have many many hmmwvs, this noise seems to only be present on the older serp setup where there is no clutch pulley on the 200amp.
Glow plugs have nothing to do with how well your truck runs....
I would venture to guess you have algae in the fuel tank, filter and it’s gumming up the injection pump.
it will eventually just kill the injection pump.
Start at the fuel tank, look into the tank by removing the access panal and remove the fuel sender.
Next, remove the anti-flow back valves and delete them all together.
Next, pul the hose into the fuel filter from the pump, crank the truck and see if you get a good low of fuel, if no fuel...bad...
And as far “know for sure” the shaft you chose to use is not the normal folks use for conversions, the 12447113 or 7113-1 cut down is normal, at least it is in my shop.
